She's a psychologist. She believes and has stated that sex offenders are unredeemable ... that they will repeat the crime. The person they are trying to prosecute is a repeat offender, and that's already been revealed to potential jurors.

The judge has stated he will even work around her schedule to have her on the jury.

She's not making anything up to get out of it, but it's amazing they would want her. I'm confused. Based on what I would think this makes no sense.

I agree with you. However, both lawyers pick the jurors. There is a lot of give and take to create a balanced jury. Each lawyer attempts to have jurors that will support them and not prejudice the other side before the trial has even begun.

I believe she should see the judge and explain, clearly, her point-of-view on this issues. Obviously, he missed something.

I feel the same way as your wife and I've served on a jury (albeit, we're not questionned here in the UK about such things). It's good to have a jury balanced between the softly-softly types and those who take a harder stance on crime. Maybe the judge liked the idea of a juror more inclined to think of the victim rather than the defendant. If so, I wish there were judges like that in the UK.

Jury is a random choice of people in a attempt to have a fair trial but usely it's not that fair, If they really want her on jury duty that MUCH then you could say there is a problem, You should be able to find a way to to have to.
