I know it's an old question, but I really don't understand it. Please help me out.

ID is about the 'Watchmaker' - 'A complex creation like a watch requires a watchmaker'. Fine, okay, sure. But why is God exempt from this? 'Who created God?' is a pointless question - I agree. But it becomes a practical question if somebody is telling you that the universe is too complex to have formed independently.

Why should I then accept that God is _not_ too complex to have formed independently?

diamond_doll: I never said that I believed the universe always existed. I said that the proposal that it always existed is as legitimate as the proposal that God always existed. I don't have a problem with the notion that God is uncreated (apart from not believing it), but if you tell me that complex things _require_ a creator, then it begs the question why God is exempt from that rule. It's the logic that bothers me.

In traditional scholastic theology, God is eternal, uncreated, and...simple. Weird, eh?

Okay then, if you are looking for who created GOD, but say also that the Universe always existed, you have contradicted yourself. You want a creator for everything, yet not for the Universe, as it fits your belief, but want one for God, as it doesn't?

Cant have it both ways. Either EVERYTHING has a creator, or not. Which one is it? Should we accept the universe is to complex to have formed independently?

The coin has two sides, you know?

Actually, I was the one who created god.

Sorry,
sorry about that everyone.
Just got a little carried away.
Won't happen again.
Sorry.

ID is a crackpot theory. The only thing that would make it valid for a person is if s/he chose to incorporate it as part of his/her belief system.

yes, man (semi-intelligent) created God and all the other gods.
