Charolais - White
Belgian Blue - White w/Black
Belted Galloway - Black on both ends w/white stripe (belt) through the middle

Braford - Red w/White face
Brahman - white or grey
Brahmousine - redish-fawn
Devon - Dark Red
American Dexter - redish-fawn
These are a very few of the breeds used for meats as well as other products. I would say this is about 15-20% of the total...

Many kinds of cows are used for their meat. Some are raised for milk production but you could still eat them. Some have more tender meat than others though. We just got back from England and the meat there is a little tougher but more flavorful than what we are used to in the U.S.

There are many different breeds of beef cattle, Aberdeen Angus is one of the more famous, my husband likes steaks from Welsh Black cattle, other famous beef cattle are :-
Hereford
Galloway
Longhorn
DEvon
Limousin
Charolais
Blonde d'Aquitaine
Here in Scotland the famous long coated Highland cattle with big horns are also used for beef.
Some breeds of cattle are dual purpose ( beef & milk ) such as Simmental and Brown Swiss.
