Is it a mortal sin? Is my soul in danger here? What kind of corrective action, if any, can I take?

It is not a sin. It is a sin to have sex with a married woman, but the bible does not cover premarital sex. "Adultery" is NOT premarital sex with an unattached partner. Adultery is sex when either or both of you are married.
Oops, I just saw the "separated". That is a sin since she is still married, but to have premarital sex with a divorced woman is NOT a sin

I'm sorry that I can not quote the verse exactly, but Jesus' says if you have sex with or if you marry a divorced woman you have committed the sin of adultery. He goes further to say if you look at a woman with lust in your heart you've committed adultery. Corrective action is to ask for forgiveness in pray and sin no more..........emphasis on sin NO more.

Sin is sin. Ask forgiveness from God and the other person. As Jesus told the woman caught in the very act of adultery, your sin is forgiven and in essence don't do it again.

seriously. a sin is a sin is a sin. if you commit just one sin without accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, you go to hell. if you have accepted Him asked him into your heart, believe with your heart and say with your mouth that He is the Son of God, died for you and rose again to glory, then you're good. just say, "Sorry, Lord. Help me to avoid sin again."
if you have not accepted Jesus, the only thing you can do is to accept Jesus. If you haven't and you want to just tell him that you believe in Him and want him to live in your heart, you confess that you are a sinner and accept his sacrifice for your sin.
after this if you feel guilt, it's the devil making you feel bad, b/c God said that he separates our sins from us as far as the east is from the west and that his mercy is as far as the earth is from the heavens, so God wouldn't be making you feel bad.

though its not my belief it is... according to the bible isnt all premarital sex the same?
