I have dyed my hair every color in the book. It's naturally a dull brown color. I've had it red, orange (by accident), purple (by accident), light blonde, and real dark brown. I did try to dye my hair blonde one time and it KILLED my hair. It dried it out and it just looked dead all the time, not to mention the awful looking roots. I have come to terms with the fact that I'll never be blonde! I haven't dyed my hair in about a year, and it just won't grow at all. someone mentioned that it won't grow as fast as it should because I damaged it so bad by dying it. Does anyone know?

Yes, dye does damage hair.

No. If it did, you wouldn't need to re-dye it.

Is it possible, however, that you've damaged your hair so severely that the ends are disintegrating making it appear as if it isn't growing. (that was speculation)

The speed your hair grows change change with age (and the fluctuation of your hormones) and I would say the most likely cause is a change in your cycle.

If it truly has stopped all together, you might want to visit your primary care physician and make sure there's no medical cause.

Good luck to you.

The hair is not just a part of your body and it is a symbol of beauty, status and health. It is important for you to take proper care of your health in order to prevent early hair loss. Learn here https://bitly.im/aMwVY It is not a very serious problem and with a little bit of caution you will be able to prevent further hair loss. There are certain uncontrollable factors like pregnancy conditions or certain illness or genetic factors that will result in hair loss. But, this does not mean that you cannot do something about your hair loss.

u have to use treatments on ur hair, it need to repair it's self. try something w/ protein in it. the problem is not that it won't grow it's that the hair is so damaged it's braking off, u probably see a lot of hair in ur drain and on ur brush. so just be gentle and always condition.

You have probably fried your hair. It is still growing, but breaking off mid-shaft. Give it a break... go to a professional salon and get some help... You can also get some deep conditioning treatments from your local cvs/walmart/walgreens, etc...

no it will not stop growing but if you use cheap dye and process your whole head everytime, your hair will turn to straw and break off. UGLY!!!!!!!
