Firstly..i offer you my congratulations. I was married only 2 weeks ago and i know how stressful organising a wedding is..especially the seating arrangements, I had done it all myself. What you need to know first is how many people are coming..the final count., you usually have between 10 and 12 to a round table. Take off how many are sitting at the top table, then work out that way. (To get this done by someone costs between 60 and 100 pounds, so its cheaper this way.) I had 70 guests,7 tables, so there were 10 at each table. There is a web site that gives you a free download which helps, but if you are wanting to print off the seating plan you can only use it for 30 names or less. I wish you the best of luck in your forth coming marriage, good luck on your preparations and seating arrangement, but mostly i wish you a stress free 3wks.

P.S. Remember... Enjoy the day,and if you feel at all nervous.... try to imagine everyone naked...lol. I wish i had listened to this advice before my day...i was a nervous wreck..cried all the way through the service, and don't remember even saying my vows.

If you need anymore help..just email me

Honestly, I never used a template. What you need is a map of how the room will be set up, and you need to know how many are seated at each table. I wouldn't assign seats, but rather tables, it's easier to switch people out at the last minute for those last minute cancellations. Start with the head table, which is usually the bridal party. If the bride and groom are sitting with the bridal party, then the maid of honor is seated to the grooms left, and the best man is seated to the brides right, and then the rest of the wedding party is seated on either side (usually boy-girl so that pictures look good.) Parents are either seated on the end, or at another table (the closest one to the bridal party), depending on the size of your party. Seat the flower girls/ring bearers with their parents. The rest of it is just how you want it, I would start by seating immediate family members at the tables closest to the head table, and then work your way out. Good luck, and don't stress over it too much! Congrats!

Have a great day!! In the meantime a seating plan depends on the size of the room, numbner of tables, number of guests per table, shape of the table etc etc etc. Ask the venue to give you all the above details and ask them if they have a list of layout ideas from previous weddings. That way you can choose the table layout style that you like. Once you have the tables in place and know how many people are sitting per table start putting in your guests names. I am surprised that the venue hasn't already gone through this with you. Are you doing your own reception. If so just draw out your own plan to your own style.

Usually you can get one from your caterer or venue. If not, it's pretty easy to make one up. For example if you're having 8 people per table, get a paper as big as you want (sometimes it's easier to use a big posterboard to see the whole picture) and plan out where you want the tables at your site. Then instead of drawing a round table just draw 8 lines. Write your names on each line. It helps keep things in order.

I know other people have had luck drawing out the table and using Post-It notes with names on them as the people. It might help, plus you can get different colored post-it notes to represent the bride's family, groom's family, friends, etc.

Good luck!

Your venue should be able to help with this one. They will know how the tables are set out in the room to make best use of the space, I would try there first. If not, try asking on www.hitched.co.uk discussion forums. I had loads of help there when I was planning my wedding, I'm sure someone could help you.

i never used a template - you just decide who you want on the top table then decide how many tables you want - what shape you want them - then decide who goes on each one - you can do boy girl boy girl around them or just seat people who know each other, try to arrange it so people that dont like each other or dont get on are not on the same table....i beleive that its your wedding so you have it how you want it... i had a great wedding! as i had everything i wanted.....even had one person without his partner as i couldnt stand her lol :) enjoy your big day!

Go to http://advancedvideo.50webs.com and look at their optional items page. They have a free software you can download for organizing your wedding and has seating templates.
