Biblically its an abomination.
Its not unavoidable, but sometimes it is certainly better to lie than tell the truth.

Faith and love only comes to those who god favors. That's why I plan to hang myself tommorow night.
A year ago my ex-girlfriend and I were drinking and fighting. We both had been sober in AA before, but we started drinking together.
Anyway, she left me almost 1 year to the day today. We both went back to AA. Because she's a pretty girl lots of people rallied around her to support. All the men wanted to sleep with her, and some of them convinced her to do it.
She's sober, happy, and has a new boyfriend - my old sponsor. Go figure huh?
I went back the same day. No one shook my hand. No one said hello. No one welcomed me except during the obligitory 'hi bill' at all AA meetings.
I have not made a single friend during the past 3 years. The people who I thought were my friends, are hers. I have no money to pay for counceling nor can I afford any medical attention.
Somehow, the only option I see that will end this pain is to end my life. I plan to hang myself tommorow

Sometimes it seems unavoidable, like when you want to surprise someone for their birthday and such, or when you want to break something horrible or difficult to someone, so you tell them in stages. Or when you want to deceive an enemy in war in order to defeat your enemy, such as when the Allies lied to Germany in WWII about where the troops were going to invade France. The Allies saved thousands of American lives by lying to Germany and tricking them into thinking they were going to invade further north than where they actually did, thereby keeping the German troops held back in anticipation of a different invasion site. But lying when your only goal is pure personal greed in any area of life, that is dead wrong. I know. I "been there, done that", and it sure feels like hell for a long time afterwards. God Bless you.

Lying is wrong and it is avoidable. Lying creates a false trust that is always exposed for what it is. Sometimes the truth hurts, but you never have to run from it or apologize for it. Often, telling the truth will bring you far less punishment than lying will. Honesty is the best policy, and God is watching and listening to everything that you say and do. Don't try to put one over on him---you can't.

It is if it causes you to spend all eternity in a lake of fire. God said thou shalt not lie. I know you might feel it is unavoidable sometimes, but a lie is not worth the consequences.
Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
God Bless You.

Would you trust someone who always lied to you?
How can you base anything on something so weak and wobbly as a lie?
If I sell you a boat and tell you it's waterproof and you
buy it and then discover that I lied, what would you think?
"Oh, your lie wasn't that bad" ????
Treat others as you want to be treated.
I personally have nothing to do with liars.
They are the worse. Once caught as liars, you can never know when they will tell the truth.
You cannot trust a liar for anything.

No, lying is not bad. Yes , it should be avoided sometimes.
Suppose your best girl freind was pregnant and needed serious help. She made you promise not to tell anybody. What would you say? You would promise..right? Well, suppose her parents asked you what was wrong with her? Would you lie and say nothing or would you confess everyhting??? This is a situation where it is bad to lie.

Yes it's bad. It isn't avoidable at all. Try using honesty and the truth. If you lie, you have to spend all your time keeping the lie up.
Be honest & truthful in all you do. You'll earn the respect of all that you come into contact with.

God says it is bad...
Proverbs 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Proverbs 12:17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
