On my way from the OC to Palm Springs I like to stop over at the Cabazon outlets and then go to the Morongo indian casino.

Then heading to PS I'll book a spa treatment at the Spa hotel.
I'll walk up/down the main drag and check out the menus of the various restaurants. Since there's a lot of seniors, the nice restaurants offer "early bird" dinners. What I'll do is find the best menu, and sit down 15 minutes before the early bird dinner ends.. usually at 6 pm. Then I'll get a $30-$40 meal for like $19.99

At night i'll check out the bars and see what's good... but for the most part, I go to PS for the spa and food.

Checking out all the retro architecture and tiki stuff around town, and taking the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to Mt. San Jacinto (just outside of town). There's a really good and very popular mexican restaurant called Las Casuelas (sp?) on Palm Canyon Drive.

While its not actually in Palm Springs, my vote goes to the Desert Hills outlet mall. This is best outlet mall around with a ton of great brands: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/store_listing.asp?id=6. It's the real reason I even agree to face the heat in Palm Springs.

Not really into Palm Springs; it kinda sucks. It's just a bunch of golf courses and retirees. Nearby, though, is Joshua Tree National Park. That place is sweet!
