In gym class I fail year after year because the humiliation I feel doesn't seem worth the grade, although I know I won't graduate without my credits. When feeling anxiety my throat goes dry and my eyes start to water and it's very hard not to break down. This sometimes happens in other situations when I'm embarrassed - feeling my heart pound and my breath coming in very panicky.

How do I get over these feelings so that I can graduate? How do I at least relieve a little bit of it?

I think u have low confidence.so I suggest that u go and get some (1 or 2) well known "self confidence" books, and do them as well as u can. trust me it'll help u more than what u might think. (not even in the gym, but in every other situation)
I KNOW it would help :)

You may want to see a Dr. for Anxiety. There are many different reasons why you may have developed your anxiety issues ;some relating to people or kids who may have caused problems saying hurtful things to you or even someone close to you. Try to resolve things by going to the Dr. If you are a kid the school nurse should help you find a Dr. and you may not have to pay. If you are a college kid the same may apply or a ohio medical card can help you. But always remember God is your creator.Don't close HIM out. There is only one you. And even if you have two heads and three eyes you are still special.Just do your thing.

Wow! I thought I would never hear anyone say they felt the same way I did about gym class.

I was very, very skinny way back when, which would have made me perfect in today's world I suppose. But back then, people called me 'skinny minnie' and 'bones.'

I was smarter than most of them and was good in many other things. Because I was skinny, I could climb and jump better and won awards in track meets, but I never got over that feeling of shame. It passed eventually and became unimportant.

The moral of this story is. Concentrate on the good things about yourself. You will have bad feelings occasionally, but do what you have to do anyway.

P.S.
I turned out to be smarter, better looking and better paid than most of the other girls. And I haven't thought about those days in a long time, which proves how unimportant they were in the big scheme of things.

Believe it or not, everyone in your gym class is feeling the same way, it's just that some are very good at hiding it.

Think of something that's difficult for you when you feel anxious like doing the square roots of numbers in your head, reciting all the presidents in order, naming all your relative with their addresses and phone numbers, or saying the Gettysburg Address. Make it something that you absolutely have to pay attention to in order to get it right.

And remember, even gym class will eventually end.
