There will be no ill effects to you by keeping the food in the can.
However the food will oxidize so to keep it fresh put plastic wrap or a sandwich bag & rubber band over it. Lastly if the can sweats it can leave a rust mark on your shelve, put a paper towel under it.

You can keep canned food in the fridge as long as it is closed - like canned meat or fruit which you want chilled. Once the can is opened, transfer the contents to a container before putting the food back in the fridge.

It's probably better that way than putting it into something else. The can has been sterilized at the factory, but your own dishes (although they're clean) have not.

opened or closed? If closed, no prob - if opened, then it can rust and you can cut yourself on the edge of the can, but if you're just doing it for a few hours go ahead, if for longer, use a glad bag or tupperware.
