And yes, I'm dead-set on either the crv or toyota's rav4.

Best time to get the best deals on new cars:
Last weekend of each month
When the next year models arrive (usually Sept-November)
Major holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas
This may or may not apply to the CR-V since it's such a popular car. I have one myself (purchased new 8 years ago) and have never had a problem with it. Great car.
As for leasing, you may want to check out Swapalease.com to find recent leasers who want to get out of their leases. You may find a great deal there.

This is a good time and in the next few months will be good to get a new 06 since the 07s are coming out. If you decide to lease read carefully. There are many stipulations such as damage and mileage. If you lease you are only renting the car unless you buy it out at the end of the lease which is usually more then half of what you paid for the car in the beginning. READ CAREFULLY!

I have a CRV, mine is 2004 model. I really like it. I was slpit between the same models rav4 or crv and I chose teh crv because the rav4 is smaller and it just wasn't right for me. But my honda is perfect as far as size goes, and performance so far.

great option of vehicle i would pick the honda crv. simple it is a honda but you cant go wrong with the rav4. they both represent style and class without the leather seats. i would recommend further investigation in the Acura MDX yea it is more expensive but you can get a used one like a 2002 or similar.
