Dachshund is pronounced Datson.
Its just weird spelling n pronounciation. Just like when u spell Numonia, its spelled Pneumonia with a silent P. Dachshund is the correct spelling, Datson isnt the correct spelling, it just sounds like Datson.

It just sounds the same. We've had them all my life. And my last name is similar to Datson. And guess what kind of car we had, a Datsun (before they became Nissan). That was fun growing up.

I think you're just saying it basically the way it's pronounced and never knew the correct spelling. I always called them what basically works out to Daxsi or Daxshund, which probably sounds a lot like Datsun when I say it.
