There is no objective reason. When it comes down to it, no one can answer the origin of everything. You either end up with "where did the universe come from" or "where did god come from". It's human pride to think we can know everything.

The big bang theory based on scientific observation concludes that statement 1 cannot be true. The universe did have a beginning.
Personal experience of many people indicates that God does exist. On its face statement 2 is not wrong.
However when one looks at this logically, if God created the universe where did God come from? That question I cannot answer.

It is a question of semantics which would urge you to accept argument 2 before argument 1. What came first: the chicken or the egg?
If we accept that the egg came first, then it would be like accepting that a baby appeared out of thin air with no mother or womb to nurture it. It is easier to accept that a being (the mother/chicken) came first because then we can justify in our minds where the egg/baby came from. Because everything is born of something, we must have an origin.
This is not a question of religion. There are many un-religious people who believe in a "God," or at least in some supreme being. But we associate "God" with having a consciousness. On the other hand, the universe is a living but not thinking thing. What is logically easier to accept as having come first? The book, or the author who wrote it?

The natural laws of the universe are so precise that we have no difficulty building a spaceship to fly to the moon and can time the flight with the precision of a fraction of a second. These laws must have been set by somebody. [Quoted from Wernher von Braun, who had much to do with sending American astronauts to the moon.] If you found a precision timepiece, would you conclude that it was formed by a chance blowing together of some dust particles? There is a more magnificent "clock" the movement of our solar system, plus the stars and other systems in the universe. If a clock is evidence of intelligent design, how much more so is the far more vast and complicated Universe?

Both statements are complete speculation.
Statement 1. I don't think anyone ever said that the universe always existed. To scientists, the big bang started things rolling.
In addition, to scientists, the big bang created the universe, so I don't think anyone believes that it is uncreated.
Statement 2. God is a concept which exists in men's minds. So, God has only existed since man conceptualized him.
Since He is a concept, God was created by man.
The statement that He created the universe is only speculation based on Faith, not science or reason.
So, to me, both statements are equally false.
I think that you just need to determine if your faith is strong enough for you to believe that God exists.
That's all you need.

Statement 2 makes gullible, insecure people feel all warm and fuzzy; statement 1 makes gullible, insecure people feel all cold and prickley; therefore, statement 2 is TRUE (i.e., God did it). What more does anybody need? LOL.

Looking at these other answers, I get a huge kick out of seeing 'God of the Gaps' and 'Argument from Incredulity' (sub - 'Argument ad Ignorantiam') being displayed all over the place. At the same time, I feel despair... the blatant ignorance I see in this forum is pretty consistent with the belief statistics (87% 'believers') I see for the USA. We're doomed.

Based on what we observe, everything has a beginning and end.
I believe that is a created law. The only way out of the loop of every created thing needing a creator is if the Original Creator created that principle.
Only if Someone outside our natural laws and independent of them set them in motion does it make sense to me.
That's why statement 2 is more convincing to me.

Because if the universe always existed then the law of entropy would have it slowing down to nothing and all motion ceasing completely. Therefore, the Universe isn't "infinite years old."
God does not conform to the laws of the Universe because He existed before the Universe. Then He created the Universe and all the laws that they hold up to.

No one with any level of adult education will contend with the fact that the universe was created. It therefore stands that God created the universe because God as always been. If God has not always been, then who created him? To contend that the physical as always existed is not good philosophy or science. To contend that God, who is a Spirit, is lower than the universe is ridiculous.

a million. Readers are hooked in this sequence because of fact they are keen about looking love themselves. they choose to discover that desirable guy for them and this e book provides them wish. 2. the author's writing means is abysmal. that's regularly occurring, she makes use of a few words that do no longer make sense interior the context of the sentence, and there are a number of spelling, grammar and punctuation blunders in each e book. Her literary means is magnificent yet you will see that she's an beginner author. The plot, in spite of the actual undeniable fact that somewhat predictable, had its strengths and interesting factors. The communicate became extremely susceptible at cases and particularly cheesy and cliche too despite if it keeps you fascinated on an identical time. She did no longer describe all her characters thoroughly, which became disappointing. i'm only hoping she made them imprecise on objective. 3. If i became a e book critic i'd supply the text fabric a C- and the content a C+ Stephanie Meyer would desire to have taken greater time to edit and proofread her books in the previous publishing them. If she took out fluff that became no longer considerable to the plotline (that's why those books are see you later) it might have flowed lots quicker and much less complicated. i'm hoping she will learn from this journey because of fact I anticipate lots greater helpful from her while ineffective night sunlight is released. nevertheless, I recommend you examine them cuz you look to have greater an interest interior the books. Who knows, you ought to love them. you won't manage to lose something by using attempting them out.

I think that it has to do with the findings of science that the universe has not eternally been around (at least not in the way it is now). I believe we have an innate desire to believe in continuity and eternalism, so it makes more sense to your brain to believe statement #2 that does not go up against science.
