Bravo! Fat intolerance is one of the few types of prejudices that is encouraged and condoned. If you are leading an active lifestyle and eating right for you, then you're doing what you need to do. I think there needs to be a focus on eating healthy and being active rather than losing weight. I honestly think that the media and even the medical specialists to some extent want you to believe that thin is the only way to be healthy because weight loss is a multi billion dollar industry and all the businesses win... only the customers lose...and they lose mostly money and self esteem when the weight returns with a vengeance. It is a lot healthier to be 200 lbs and maintain it and exercise and eat right than to yo-yo diet, binge, or starve yourself. If you're not already a member, there's a wonderful size acceptance Yahoo group that I love.

There is nothing wrong with being just the way you are & for some reason America & probably other countries have made it a daily occurance to bash people who are overweight & underweight. You can't shame people into being the perfect size anymore than Hitler could give the world a perfect race of people! We all must learn to accept people as they are & love ourselves each moment our lives. Remember that the job of the MEDIA & ADVERTISING is to make a profit from people & they don't care how they get their money. It is the peoples job to send a message to these heartless agencies by NOT buying into their hype or their products.

I used to be a size 18 and now I am a size 10. I work out in order to compensate for the amount of chocolate I eat, but otherwise am not fanatical. I feel so much better about myself and my body these days. I know I am healthy, but am still 'fat' compared to magazine women. Thing is, I don't care.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Mustard is a secret bulge-buster. This boosts your metabolism and improves natural ephadrine, the hormone that burns fat. According to Jeya Holly, professor of human nutrition with Oxford Brookes University, just a tablespoon as part of your food can reduce a flabby waist by 20 per cent!

Just like being too skinny, being too fat is unhealthy. It puts weight on your organs and makes daily tasks your body has to do for survival much harder. Generally those that are overweight will die sooner than others.
To be overweight normally indicates laziness and an abundance of money to most people.
The reason celebs. get called out for refusing to diet is because it's so unheard of in the entertainment business. Being a healthy, normal weight is good but being too skinny or too heavy isn't.

There is an article on the front page of Yahoo right now. It's about fat people that can't get into x-ray scanners. You will laugh.

Obese Americans are increasingly proving too fat to fit into scanners or their fat gets in the way of X-rays and ultrasounds, according to a study.

Researchers found that the number of patients who had inconclusive test results had doubled over 15 years.

Dr Raul Uppot and his team analysed all the radiology examinations performed at a Massachusetts hospital between 1989 and 2003, looking for records labelled "limited by body habitus" - meaning the patient's size hampered the quality of the test.

They found that while 0.10 per cent of inconclusive exams were due to patient size in 1989, the figure had climbed to 0.19 per cent by 2003, despite advances in technology.

It is estimated that 66 per cent of adults in the US are overweight, obese or morbidly obese, while there are 12.5 million overweight children and adolescents.

The team said CT and MRI scans could cause problems for obese patients because there were weight limitations on the imaging table and the size of the opening on the imager could be too small for them to get in.

Ultrasound beams and X-rays can also be hindered by fat and fail to produce clear pictures of the organs being examined.

Standard CT tables in the US can take patients weighing up to 450lbs, while MRI machines can usually obtain diagnostic-quality images in patients weighing up to 350lbs.

The team, writing in the journal Radiology, warned that incomplete examinations because of obesity could have serious consequences, such as misdiagnosis or the failure to find a diagnosis at all.

Dr Uppot, a staff radiologist at MGH, said: "Americans need to know that obesity can hinder their medical care when they enter a hospital."

He added: "In the short term, the medical community must accommodate these patients by investing in technology to help them.

"In the long term, this country must make cultural shifts that promote more exercise and a healthier diet."

Just what do these medical people think they know.

Fat used to be beautiful, when the culture dictated that it meant you were also wealthy and affluent. It is still the case in some cultures. I think the biggest problem with being fat today, is that people view it as a sign of laziness, or lack of self-control - these are just signs of our society's views, the most obvious wrong about being fat are the potential health problems.

This is a question that only your heart can answer truly...now if your size and weight is not affecting your heart then be happy...but over time being such a large size can affect your blood pressure as well as your heart and various other body parts.

Your correct about the "models" and the fashion mags....it is sad that our children and easily pursuaded adults think that this is the "norm".......but there is another issue here about obesity....No, anorexia is NOT healthy and beautiful.....it is a mental illness......but so is obesity!!!!!!!! Peoples personalities should always always always come before their outer shell, but both extremes are unhealthy and NOT BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I am sorry about your medical condition.....i have many myself, but you still need to continue to try to lose the weight......it is unhealthy for all of your body systems........if your unable to lose the weight......just stay active.....good luck.
