The hair iron turns the water in your hair into steam, drying your hair with intense heat on the spot. This not only takes the water out of your hair, but also the natural oils and moisture that are needed for hair to look healthy.

I am not positive exactly why, but I do know that when your hair is wet and you take a hot straightener to it, you can severely damage your locks. Besides, even if you do straighten your hair while it's wet, when your hair dries, it won't be straight anymore. If you want straight hair, blow dry it until it's completely dry and THEN use a straightener. Make sure not to straighten too much though, just doing that can also severely damage your hair.

well..its awful for you hair and doesnt work nearly as well as when it's dry. dont even straighten it wet you will burn it and possibly ruin your straightener in the prosess...your hair will be in awful shap etoo

when it's dry, mist is with TRESeme's heat protection...dont drenched it, just mist it, and THEN straighten. it works wonderfully, my stylist compliments the condition my hai ris in all the time and found it hard to believe that I straighten it almost every day. it leaves it feeling soft, not dry...it really does work.

lay off the wet straightenin unles syou want hair from hell..

good luck!

also, a good tidbit for hair. to make it shiney, rinse it in cold water after your usual warm shower rituals. before you get out turn it to cold and give your hair a good rinse.

It dries it out more, and it actually works better on dry hair. I would recommend putting some kind of protectant on you hair that's made for straighten to keep it from getting fried.

Because it burns it, which leaves it brittle and easily broken.
That's like split ends only all the way up. If you HAVE to iron it, be sure it's dry when you do. And use the "no steam" setting.

i have a certain straightner that u can dry ur hair when it's wet-- it's called wet2straight, and it straightens ur hair AND dries it..i think they're about 30$, and depending on your hair thickness (mines really thick) you have to run it through a couple of times, but it's totally worth it -- i swear
