Thought so.I guess Yes and No really wasn't paying attention.It didn't go anywhere.

If I'm so wrong on this guys,then why do I know so many people with these numbers they use on their taxes?

No matter what you feel on it,I'm telling the truth.The illegal people I know have no visa nor any ss#.They received a number for tax purposes that lets them file their taxes with their w2 forms at the end of the year.When i asked them what the number was,they said it was a tax id #.So,again,if I'm wrong,then how'd they get the number and get refunds?Please,no stupid answers.I haven't insulted anyone and expect the same treatment.

I've read your prior question and additional info you posted. You are correct.

Individuals born in the USA are given Social Security Numbers (SSN) for identification.

Corporations or entities (Employers) are given Employer Identification Numbers (EIN).

Individual taxpayers are given Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs).

I really have no idea when it comes to illegals but a persons federal tax ID number is the same as thier social security number. The only reason some may call it that is becuase they own a business which may hold a different tax id# than the owner and they get used to saying "federal tax ID number".

That's my experience anyhow.

legal or illegal? a legal may not be a citizen, but is here with the proper authorities knowledge and may be working legal and paying taxes under the provisions of the IRS and the tax i.d. number. an illegal is here unknown to the authorities, working illegally and not paying any taxes. they are no better than the people whom employ them and both should be run out of this country as they are a burden to the rest of us. So tell all your buddies tinker to just make sure they pay their taxes, live by our laws and report their whereabouts to the local INS office.

i are not getting it. Why might YOUR tax preparer desire their tax identity huge type? That huge type is comparable on your SOCIAL protection huge type. It does not make sense. the only component you're required to checklist on your taxes is the money YOU made. If all you have is pay stubs, which will might desire to do.
