Should I devote the rest of my days on Earth to god worship and churchgoing?

I realized that I have no purpose, too. I'm strangely comfortable with it. Well, not that strangely, to be true.

Read "The Purpose-Drive Life" by Rick Warren. That's why God invented amazon.com. But if you feel that converting to a christian is the way for you, then try it. You'll need to accept Jesus Christ as your savior because otherwise the whole 'god worhsip' thing might be a bit hard. A pastor can help you start if you want, but try a community church that is non-denominational (not Catholic, not methodist; just its own thing). This way you'll get a more unbiased view and don't have to worry about turning your back on them if you want to stay atheist (seriously, these kind of churches won't care).

Going to church and worshipping God are only afterthoughts...

Most important is coming to a realization of who God is. Obviously this requires a belief that He exists and that He's not some nonsentient energy mass floating in the ether. Accept the fact that He proved His love for you on the cross. Call upon His name and you will be saved. Think of Him as your Father and someone you can confide in. Worship is not a requirement. It's merely a byproduct that comes from a true realization that you've been saved from this sinking ship we call earth.

That's all. That's His promise. Take the rest as it comes. I personally have found organized religion to be the bane of true christianity.

If you're really looking for Him, you WILL find Him. You'll find more proof than the world will ever hope to see.

I have to say I like your picture. You seem like you have a good sense of humor. There is more than one way to look at religion. I think there must be those who shove it down everyone's throat then expect them to believe. I don't belong to that catagory. I believe people "come to believe". Finding a purpose in life is about helping other people. Or maybe animals, or ecology. What did you love when you were little? Maybe you could start there. God is all around you and you will connect with him when you are doing something you really love. Church is great but you can pray anywhere and it is personal. I believe life is a journey and maybe today you will start yours. I know your question may be just a joke question but my answer is sincere. Peace.

The devoting of oneself to God and church going is entirely up to you. In order to do this, you first must believe that God exists. You must believe. The rest will take care of itself. Have you ever considered that God created the heavens and earth, that God created man? If not, then let me suggest that you obtain a Bible and attempt to read the New Testament first. Before you read - let me suggest you silently pray for understanding and wisdom and to have an open mind. Do not rush in trying to understand the written word, just read. Then after reading go find a church. Do not join yet, as you are still seeking by observing. When your inner soul tells you to move forward, you will know what to do. My prayers are that you seek God and you will find inner peace. Then your purpose in life will unfold. Note: As long as you can believe in God you will feel better about yourself.

Churchgoing answer; We have been told "That my father doesn't live in houses built by man". If this statement is true and it comes from The Bible and of course it is true, what else?
Our Lord is omnipotent and will find you anywhere when you are ready to follow - perhaps not now - later on.

Why would you worship a god you do not believe in?

However, even if you are an Atheist you can have purpose in life. How about making your community, society, and world a safer, better place by showing human compassion towards others and community service?

hmm...of course all Christians are going to say, "yes! you will find purpose when u turn to God!". however, there are many Christians these days who *think* they know what is right or wrong, but still feel lost, or are lost, in their faith. i would encourage you to definitely learn more about the religion and concept of faith, but do it willingly and make that decision to believe in Jesus *WHEN* you know and understand that it is your choice, not because you think it will fill a void in ur life. But i applaud you in realizing that Christianity may be a way to find purpose in ur life, that is so awesome. Please, live, love and learn all things good, and u will find purpose. I encourage u to read Romans 5-8... i've learned so much from those 3 chapters than i have my WHOLE LIFE in the church!! once u learn and love what Jesus teaches, i think u will learn that it is important to be good, and know good, because you WANT to do it, not because u care what others think, or u think if u follow these rules u will go to heaven. find a purpose of being a good person, and choosing wisely in all your decisions, and u will realize that God is Love and WANT to follow. good luck and seek knowledge, love and peace; u will find it.

Talk to a pastor (preferably of some mainstream church). Devoting your life completely to God will wear you out, especially if you jump into it cold-turkey - it might scare you away. You'd do best to talk to someone in person and ask them for guidance.

Pray.

Read the Bible. Start with the Gospels.

Nah. I say go buy a cheesecake and eat the whole thing. Then treat yourself to a movie. Hopefully this whole churchgoing urge you have will pass.

I really hope you are serious. I detect a touch of sacrasm in your question though.

IF you are serious, churchgoing won't do a thing for you. Develop a relationship with Jesus. That's what being a Christian is really about.
