why so many people believe that one religion is so much better than another?

I don't think my religion is superior to yours. I think the different religions are supposed to be there for people who are meant to learn something different than their neighbor is. We all have different paths in life, so doesn't it make sense then that we would believe in something different to suit our life's journey? Humans like to compete with each other over a broad range of subjects - sports, politics, who's got a more expensive/nicer home - religion included. What do you think one of the motives (minor or not) behind the Crusades was?

I believe that while other religions contain some elements of religious truth, only one religion (Roman Catholicism) contains the fullness of it.

Therefore, I believe that it is better than other religions?

If I didn't think so, why else would I follow it?

Why are we allowed to judge one type of car to be better than other types of cars -- but we can't do that with religion, without "offending" someone?

Truth is, we make "better or worse" judgments about all sorts of things in life, all the time. We do it about jobs, cars, houses, loaves of bread in the supermarket, restaurants to take a first date on ... you name it.

Well, religion is far more important than any of these things.

So, why are we encouraged to make "better or worse" judgments about the less important stuff mentioned above, but not about the all-important issue of how to follow God?

I think it's because each one believes that their way is the one true way. I am a christian. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I try to live my life daily as he directed us to do. I am not one of those people who puts other religions down. I feel that the bible is the word of God, but I am sure each religion says the same about their holy books and that in some way each religion is trying to do what they believe is right. I just pray for them and sincerely ask God to bless them.

It's based on truth. As a Christian, if I believe there's a heaven and a hell, and you can know which one you're headed for, I am obligated to at least warn you (but not force you). A lot of folks believe "you get what you believe when you die (Pet Sematary)" but that's a pretty ridiculous notion. There is truth, and it is up to us to find it. I know being a good Muslim/Jew/good person of any faith won't get anyone to heaven, and if it is deceptive and people are going to hell, am I simply supposed to overlook that? A lot of people in hell will be wondering why I didn't tell them. That's scary.

Wouldn't you like to believe your religion is the best if you believe in it? Everyone's own religion looks best until...

Ok first of all. If you believe that Jesus died on the cross and you except Him into your heart then you go to heaven. It's not a matter of liking a religion, it's a matter of liking God.

People like to believe that everything concerning them is better than anything else. This is especially strong with beliefs because most people think that if their beliefs aren't the best ones, then they aren't correct.

I do not believe in religions.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the living Son of God, my Lord and my Savior.
I believe that no one will go to the Father's house except through Him. The Bible is God's life manual for people, written by humans but inspired by God.

Because theres to much riding on the right religion u must believe fully your religion is right because theres heaven and hell riding on it, and when you follow a religion you must believe that it is the right one and it will lead you to heaven and if you switched to anyother religion youd go to hell.
