They are just rude, and it seems that this forum brings out the worst in people. I think there is no right or wrong religion and people should worship their God in any way they choose or choose not to. It is a personal choice, no one has the right to tell someone else what to believe in. Just my opinion, heck it could be wrong too.

False assumption on your part: You believe that atheists and non believers do not have information concerning religion.

While an atheist, I would say that I have more knowledge concerning religions then 95% of the people on these boards. This is based on

1)Personal readings of the Bible, Quoran, Torah, and other mythological items

2) Theological classes taken for my college minor

3) Papers I've written discussing it.

4) History classes which, rather then blindly following the Bible/Torah/whatever, actually chart the sociological and historical spread of religion across the world.

I think opinions come from a mixture of feelings and information. as far the insults, well that's just not fair. No one should be insulted for asking a question no matter what the question is. There should be more tolerance on this site.

How do you know they don't have any information? Seems to me that you are making one heck of an assumption without information yourself. Any way, that's one of the things people do....have opinions. I have mine, you have yours and I'll bet you've done your share of insulting people based on your opinion. That doesn't make it right or not rude, but remember that when you point your finger, there are four more fingers pointing back at you.

I guess the same way they can make comments and give their opinion about politicians and about political issues. If you don't know what I mean, ask a George Bush supporter what makes Bush a good president. I'd bet you anything they won't have a clue why he is a "good president"!

is what makes our country great, if rather bizarre at times. You are allowed to express whatever you want, whatever you believe. The problems come up when someone else does not like that; some religions hate it, in fact, and are willing to kill over it.

It's just another way people use to feel better about themselves. Alot of people put others down just to feel good about themselves (or superior). So they use tools like religion also.

"If you aren't doing it MY way, then it isn't the right way".

So needless to say, a whole bunch of people get turned off by religion and hypocritical people (like myself!).

I know Christianity, Christians, Christian history and the bible VERY VERY WELL, so I can venture opinions on them. I visit a different church every week. I know a fair amount of other religions, too.

Arrogance.

However the same question can be asked of why some people who are completely ignorant of science also seem to feel their opinions are valid.
