i will ONLY have male doctors for gynocology... it just seems more natural. people say "you know why he got into that field don't you? to look at P*s*y all day." and all i can say as a response is "then wouldn't a woman go into that field with the same expectation?"

I've had a female gyno, but only male obs. I'd say male. I think a female would automatically think they know what you're going through and try and give you their own personal advice, rather than a male who would try to be more compassionate and understanding. Also I heard since male fingers are longer it hurts less when they are checking you then females with short fingers. My husband doesn't really like having other guys touching and seeing me down there, but I don't care it's medical not personal. All the male obs I've had have been nothing but sweet. Although I have run into and heard of egotistical jerks, I think it depends on the actual doctor.

My OB/GYN is male. He was able to help me with a lot of my pregnancy problems because his wife went through a lot of the same things I did. He is a really understanding person. I have had two midwives, one of which was a total ***** and the other was a doll. I have never once felt uncomfortable with my dr. He has performed a tubal ligation on me and even had to perform an emergency hysterectomy on me. I did have one male dr that I quit going to due to the fact he felt the need to grab and feel my breasts everytime I went in for a prenatal appointment. I guess go with whoever you are comfortable with.

I've always been more comfortable with male ob/gyn's. Surprisingly, they are a little more discreet and sensitive to your situation. When I was in my early 20's, I actually had a female gyno give me a mirror and make me hold it between my legs so she could identify my anatomy for me. How embarrassing is that? Told her I'd gotten an A in Biology but thanks anyway.

Male. The men are usually nicer and more patient. The women OB/GYNs are usually impatient and more "Let's get to the point!". The men are gentler and it seems as if they enjoy their job more than women do. And of course when somebody actually enjoys their occupation, they are better workers and employees as opposed to hating or disliking your job and being bored, impatient, and in some cases rude the whole time.

I don't generally like women doctors...regardless of their specialty. Not really sure why this is. I did have one female gyn once (My first one...she was my mom's doctor, and I had my first few appointments with her until I grew up and moved out of the house on my own.) and I remember really not liking her. Her bedside manner was OK, but...I just can't put my finger on it. I really didn't like having my yearly exams with her because she had (and I know this is going to sound weird/crazy) very small/petite hands, and the pelvic exam hurt so much. That's not why I disliked her though. I just don't really care for women doctors in general.

Wife did want only a female but ended up with a guy. She liked him very much and wants him to deliver the next kid.

It might be weird at first but a doctor is a doctor and they see that stuff all the time. Think nothing about it.

Honestly I think a man is better, I see them as being a little more gentle. I've had a few women Doc's and I didnt care for the service. You think a woman doc would be a lil more sensitive to the area since they have one too, But I guess it all depends on the doctor.

I prefer a female OB/GYN, but I was also raped and I feel uncomfortable with a man, b/c having to do paps and breast exams. I hope my answer was able to help you out. =^..^=

I go to a group of female doctors, and they're great! when I actually went in to have my baby, before they called my doctor in, they had the male resident examine me. the only thing awkward about that was my husband getting upset because it was a man.

honestly, the gender of the doctor doesn't matter to me, as long as they're good at what they do and they treat me with respect.
