I melt baker's chocolate and hershey bars together to cover the peanut butter eggs. My dad used the same chocolates and something called baker's wax, which no one knows what I'm talking about. Help Please.

Paraffin wax. It's usually with the canning supplies (mason jars and such) at any store that sells such things. I know Wal-Mart does. (At least mine does, but you know how Wal-Mart is. No two stores are the same.) Just melt it in with the chocolate. This will make the chocolate set up faster and harder. It takes about a quarter to a half of a block for one bag of chocolate chips. Just adjust the amount added so that it sets up well but isn't too waxy. It's what I use to make peanut butter balls at Christmastime. Ask someone working at the store where the paraffin wax is. They should know.

Edit: Yes, I do believe it is sold under the brand name Gulf in most stores. (See answer below.)

OK, first about the baker's wax:

"Pariffin Wax, Parowax, Baker's Wax, or Cooking Wax - It is classified as a chemical preservative, is widely used on fruits, vegetables, and candy to make them shiny and pretty and to retard moisture loss and spoilage. Paraffin is still commonly used to seal home-canned jellies and jams." (1st link)

Next, this other site recommends something called "tempering" to keep you fingers chocolate free:

"Tempering Chocolate
What Does Tempering Chocolate Mean?
TEMPERING is a method of heating and cooling chocolate for coating or dipping with chocolate. Proper tempering results in chocolate that has a smooth and glossy finish. The tempered chocolate will have a crisp snap and won't melt on your fingers as easily as improperly tempered chocolate. Properly tempered chocolate is also great for molding candies because the candies will release out of the molds more easily and still retain a glossy finish."

Check the second link for further information on that.

Of course, me, I just LOVE to lick my fingers!!! Have fun!
