What is wrong with you people? Obviously a wasp in your trifle is far worse, because if you find a slug in your lettuce, it's just a good excuse not to eat lettuce. Wasp in your trifle is like shrapnel in your champion fighter pilot. Although of course I would make the best of a bad job and eat around it. It's certainly better than dog poo on your cheesecake. In that situation there's nothing to do but mourn.

Wasp in your trifle, definitely. A slug in your lettuce would mean you wouldn't have to use so much French dressing, as they're already done it for you.

Slug, because of the slimy trail they leave. At least you could fish out the wasp with a spoon and then eat the trifle, but I wouldn't fancy slimy lettuce!

Both are bad, but I'd say that finding half a slug in your lettuce would be far, far worse.

A slug is an escargot, so that isn't that bad. Especially when it's your recipe....
So I'd go for the wasp.

Just this weekend I found the shell of a ladybug in my pasta at the "Spag. Factory" in London. The old beitch waitress insisted it was the skin of the tomato! I wasn't born yesterday, and frankly I'm a better cook than whoever was in the kitchen Saturday.

Yuck!
