Iraq and Afghanistan are sink holes with ne end. No insurgency has ever been put down militarily less Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. This brew ha ha is going to drag out 12 years or more. Those serving in the worse parts of it are usually children from low income families who could not afford college. Those recruiters must be very good, or these low income kids so dumb they are duped into inlisting. Why don't they just go get a real job? Instead of copping out in the military. I don't know what signing bonus they were promised, but you can't collect if you are dead, and it is a small price to be paid for coming back an amputee.

Neocons, go figure? The only hypocrisy would be to say I can not exercise my 1st amend right when it ain't popular. You can't go to college if you are dead no matter how much they promise to give you. There is no corpse 101. Hard to become a micro surgeon in med school with a fake hand or no arms. All the rich athletes, execs, etc, and their children feel so great about Uncle Sam they are dumping their high income day jobs for a rifle. No, they will not ask military advice from me because they have enough dummies giving them stupid advice, starting from the oval office down. Yes, Iraq and Afghanistan are something that NEVER should have happened, but it is not the soldiers fault they are led by fools.

My son is a college graduate who left a great job & took a huge paycut to join the military. He has never been low income in his life & it has been years since he has been middle income in US.
He is neither dumb nor duped by recruiter. Like all military serving he went to recruiter not the other way. He received nor asked for any signing bonus. His bonus is to serve his country.

The only completely dumb person is the one asking the question, who made up numbers as to how long we would be in Afghanistan or Iraq, If Afghanistan continues it will be in a civil war & we will come home. In Iraq, all UN forces, Iraqi goverment agree with US that we should be home around Nov. 2007. You are not the military expert you think, the military will never come for your stupid advice.

Why are you attacking the people that are over there? Not everyone is low income. Some people are in the military because they are proud to call America their home and they want to serve their homeland. Plus the military will pay for your college and most jobs won't do that.

You are way out of line. Getting an education is not a small thing, and the medical benefits last the rest of their lives. It is a matter of honor to serve your country. Thousands of people work hard underground in coal mines, which is worse job, but they do it to provide for their families. It's what adults do. Grow up.
