They asked us to do it on our tour of Thailand (out of respect to the culture) but I declined and said it was against my religion to bow my knee to any other god.

That depends on the definition of Idol. I suppose that anything could be considered an Idol, in that case, I've knelt before many things that could be considered Idols. However, they weren't Idols to me, as I've never believed in worship. To worship an object is just a futile as worshiping God. If God created us in order to worship than that tells me that "God" has very low self esteem. Which means that "God" is trying to prove something to him/her/itself, which means that this so called God, is not all knowing, nor all powerful. If that is true, there must be some other being or order of beings that is more powerful.

An idol is anything that takes the place of God. This could be TV. Our jobs. Our money etc.
We have all knelt before idols because we want what makes us happy not what makes God happy.

An idol, no.

I've knelt down plenty of times in church, where a statue or something happened to be more or less in front of me. But, of course, I wasn't kneeling TO the statue or praying to it.

I don't know if this counts, but, one time I was at a gallery. I turned a corner and there was a life-sized fiberglass statue of Marilyn Monroe in that pose from "Seven Year Itch" where she stands atop the subway vent, in vain, holding down her dress pleats flying up all around her.

No kidding, I literally fell to my knees in awe!

Yes I have and I do on a daily basis. The idols I have on my altar are representations of my deities not the deities themselves.

Only when I was part of the Catholic Church....it usually was around Christmas...we had to kneel in front of a porcelain "baby Jesus" and kiss it on the knee.
