Everyone who comes in contact with the chemical on the poison oak & poison ivy will have a reaction of some sort. It's not the plant that causes this rather the oils on the leaves that are irritants. Make sure you wash your clothes in warm soapy water, wash your pets...they carry it on thier fur, use Calamine lotion to help with itch and don't scratch. Benedryl has been known to also help with reaction.

My daughter got into a patch of poison ivy unbeknownst to her and her legs were totally blistered and purple. I had her to the doctor and the ER. Worst case they had ever seen. If you ever suspect you might have been exposed, wash ASAP to get the oils off your skin. If you get symptoms, call your Dr. for advice.
