Either way, it's a slam-dunk indictment of Him. Either he's weak, or he's an asshole. Why worship such a god?

He's had a LOT of opportunities to start things fresh with a clean slate, but for whatever reason He hasn't. The better question to ask is why does He continue to put up with such a flawed species as the human race? Evil will only continue to exist as long as there is free will. God prefers free will, even if that means that He won't get ALL the support He possibly can from us.

That's a false dilemma. I agree with your first premise, but disagree with the second. First, biblically (for that is how we must speak when talking about God) what is evil? The human heart and activities apart from God. That is why the Bible says that God created evil. Because, much like a father who steps away from a child who wants to play with toys his way, God steps out of the way and lets us do it our own way sometimes. Thus, evil. Do not forget we are ALL God's creation (even terrorists) but that evil must be punished by Him eventually. It is inaccurate to assume that evil will rule and reign. Therefore the conclusion is incorrect.

"Many assume that because evil still exists today, God has not dealt with it. How can a person assume that God has not already solved the problem of evil in such a way that neither His goodness nor omnipotence is limited? On what grounds do they limit what God can and cannot do to solve the problem? God has already solved the problem of evil. And He did it in a way in which He did not contradict His nature or the nature of man. We assume God will solve the problem of evil in one single act. But why can’t He deal with evil in a progressive way? Can’t He deal with it throughout time as we know it, and then bring it to the climax on the Day of Judgment?
God sent His Son to die on the cross in order to solve the problem of evil. Christ atoned for evil and secured the eventual removal of all evil from the earth. One day evil will be quarantined in one spot called "hell." Then there will be a perfect world devoid of all evil. If God declared that all evil would, at this moment, cease to exist, you and I and all of humanity would go up in a puff of smoke. Divine judgment demands that sin be punished. "

"he is serving his own ends and not bothering to use his power to help out"
Just because you choose not to do something doesn't me you are serving your own ends.
"Why serve a God that has the power to stop evil from happening but refuses to use it?"
Why not?

I certainly do not believe some of these answers you are receiving. I believe that religion and how your walk with God is a choice. It is your choice to believe or not. No one should judge another person. There is only one Judge!!
To answer your question.. I also feel that the Bible is TRUTH!! In the Bible it states....God will never destroy this earth again like He did with the flood for 40 days and 40 nights.
God doesn't have to...We are doing a very good job of destroying God's great earth ourselves. We are getting very good at it. It truly saddens me.
Thank you for your question and you have a great day.

The Bible gives us this assurance that God can and will put a stop to evil in the world. Please check the following Scriptures in your own Bible to verify this.
“Evildoers themselves will be cut off, but those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.”—Psalm 37:9.
“The upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it.”—Proverbs 2:21, 22.
“The world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.”—1 John 2:17.
“The sinners will be finished off from the earth; And as for the wicked, they will be no longer. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise Jah, you people!” (Psalms 104:35)
"But the transgressors themselves will certainly be annihilated together; The future of wicked people will indeed be cut off." (Psalms 37:38.)

Justice delayed isn't always justice denied.
God has the power to stop evil; humans screwed it up to begin with. And God does have the power to stop evil; it's just not the time right now.

GOD was effectively Locked-Out of the Creation (Earth and Star System) that Mankind was given to Rule Over for bout' 6000 Year's, when Adam comitted High Treason (ate from the Tree). GOD is doing all HE can to help us, we got Free-Will's and GOD has to work with-in what HE gave us. GOD is not a Tyrant like the Devil is.
Hope this helps.

He created a test to split the believers and non believers with scaring us. Think about this. If he came back as his form and you heard his voice saying: I want believers and followers on this side, I want sinners and nonbelievers on this side do you think you'd really go to the sinners side. No.
That's why right now he's putting us through the ultimate category test. He want's to truly see who is worthy of going to heaven and who must go to hell.
He will stop the evil just after all of the prophecies are fulfilled to see who is right to go to heaven. This was prophesized and for you to be mad is kinda wrong. You can be one of those that go to heaven but you are arguing that God doesn't feel like doing anything.
He can make it stop but he won't for those reasons.

What causes evil in this world? Evil people who do evil things. God gives us the opportunity to choose to be evil or good. That being said, your problem needs to be with the evil people in this world who choose to reject God's commandments and instead do evil things.
