This may sound nasty, but Egg whites make your hair smoother.
After washing & conditioning your hair, turn the shower to ice cold water and rinse your hair with that, that makes it shiny[er].
Knots can be cured by using a fine-toothed comb and a thick bristled brush afterwords.
Also, If you rinse it before you get out of the shower with coke [coca cola] that will make your hair shiney[er] as well.

You'll have to make sure that you don't have any split ends, that's the main cause of knots and make sure that you have a good moisturizing shampoo. If you have both of those, then a little hot oil treatment with olive oil is good. Just warm up some olive oil by running a bottle of it under hot water and then put it on your wet hair and wrap it in a towel for 20 to 30 minutes. Wash and rinse.

1) Put olive oils or something similar in your hair and let it set for a few minutes (5-10 depending on thickness)
2) Brush your hair at least 100 strokes per day every day. Preferrably while it is still a little wet. Though that sounds a little antiquated, it works. Every time that I brush my wife's hair, I aim for no less that 100 strokes and he hair always looks better and is more manageable afterwards.

Lots of conditioner...leave it in and run your fingers through it until all knots are out. Taking vitamin E every day will improve the overall shine to your hair.

Brush your hair in the shower and apply conditioner after shampooing. Comb your hair while the conditioner is in and while you rinse it out. When you're drying it, don't use a blow dryer - let it dry naturally after you spray a little hairspray or put some leave-in treatment.
Works for me!

My husband and I insist on this home remedy - before shampooing do a 15 minute Mayonnaise condition treatment - apply Mayo root to tip on dry hair and just wash it out with mild shampoo. I do this every other week and it really works great. Unless you don't have any mayo......

A tiny amount of olive oil rubbed in your hands then on to your hair. A flat iron is the best for straight hair.

Brush it, use a hair dryer to warm it up too, that helps with the knots and tangles.

After shampooing, condition it and run all of your hair under cold water. That closes the folicles which reflect light, making your hair smooth and shiny.
AND TRY BRUSHING IT! lol
