The legend is in case you position funds on the eyes of the deceased, they're going to properly pass to the underworld. The funds represent the toll that ought to be paid with a view to journey on Charon's boat on the River Styx.

Nah, cause what if he thinks it's, like, gross, or somethin', and so he won't take it unless I dry it off, and so when I wipe it on my shirt he's like, "Hey, no way, a dead guy was wearing that! Wash it off!" So I take the coin over to the river and try and dip it in there, but I get my hand wet first, and I stand up, and I have this coin in my hand, and there's a boat with a skull dude in it nearby, but I don't remember who he is or why he's there, so I walk over toward the boat and the skull guy holds out his hand, and I look at the coin in my hand and try to hand it to him, but he says, "Eww, gross!..."

Possibly. Don't also forget to be buried with a couple of bags of those little green army men to serve as Ushabti and to fight off the terra cotta soldiers.

Seeing as you can't take it with you... it wouldn't really matter. My recommendation is, when you reach the River Styx, and confront the boatman... make sure you have your credit card # memorized.

That way, you're covered for the fare to cross over into hell!
