Nothing wrong with Conair products, we have 4 different products that range from 7 years to 7 months in our possession with no problems.

After you wash your hair, dry it using a thermal vent brush to smooth & style the hair straight. I suggest you use a 'ceramic' dryer as these not only 'speed up' the drying, it also keeps the hair healthier, promotes shinyness and makes the hair smooth.

I suggest you buy a 'heat protectant' spray (designed to protect the hair) which you can likely find in Wal-Mart or your drug or grocery store, and spray it on the section of hair.

Use a 'ceramic' flat iron (hopefully it has a setting control) set to your hair type and condition.

Now take your flat iron and smooth it through the hair slowly and continously starting from roots to ends, being gentle as you progress. Repeat this until you get the result you desire.

That's about it. Except, remember to keep your hair well conditioned!!

I've had my hair chemically straightened, at it was afro frizzy/curly before and now it is stick striaght, if you ever want to go the straighener route again I suggest you try Chi.

Also, chemical straightners damage your hair, so you might want to be as gentle as possible on it right now, so I don't really suggest using hot tools every day.

Now, to answer you question, I suggest Chi flat irons, or ask you stylist what they use, because they normally work really well on my hair.

Whatever the brand, it really doesn't matter...just make sure that it is ceramic. The others will only hurt and fry your hair. It is costly (over $100 for a good one), but it is worth it in the long run.

Remington makes a really good one that is very inexpensive ($20.00). I never thought it would be so good until it was used on my daughters hair and she has VERY VERY curly hair. Not sure of the name of it but it is red, cant miss it.

The BEST is made by CHI (it's about $199 for the low end) but you can find some deals online. Hairstylists use it and love it!
