1. Listen to your parents but follow your heart. Life isn't about a paycheck. It's about doing what makes you happy.
2. Watch out for the girl you end up marrying. She'll leave you.
3. You're going to have two of the greatest kids as gifts from God. Treat them as such so that when they get asked this very question, they'll know that you tried your best to be the best daddy despite mommy leaving us.
4. Don't forget yourself.

Make Dad get a heart check up in late 2000 so he won't die.

I think I would rather talk to my parents as who they were when I was 6 as a warning for the future to them - I would tell them to play with me more outside, enroll me in a private school instead of public school and to set a better example in both eating and exercise.

Don't sweat the petty things...
and don't pet the sweaty things.
Seriously? Have fun every minute you can safely do so - make memories to carry you through life's dark times. Always ask yourself if you will regret not doing something or will regret DOING something.

I wouldn't tell myself it's going to be ok, because that would be a lie. I can't say your future will be bright, because it wont. I guess I would say that you will always be here for yourself and to make my decisions not for others, but for myself.

I'd tell myself to go have as much fun as possible and to get in trouble! I'd also tell myself to try new foods.. because now I'm picky! And to not be so shy.
