Tradition for throwing rice is out... due to the issue with birds... These days Americans will hand out bells for people to ring, or give out bottles of bubbles for people to blow. Confetti can also be used, but that's messy and require cleanup. And bird food just causes bird poop, which is also not desirable.

Asians don't throw anything. The Chinese usually have firecrackers. Loud noises represent scaring away the evil spirits.

I dont know about other Asian countries, but in India, we also throw rice and coins...lots and lots of coins...as gift from the bride to her family as she leaves her father's house.
We also throw tons and tons of flowers...but anyways this answer is not applicable to all Indians as we have so many different cultures and traditions.

i dont see how americans throwing rice at weddings have anything to do with asians....but tey dont throw rice at weddings anymore because when the birds eat it it expands and the bird explodes

Most Americans don't throw rice anymore, it causes slippery sidewalks, hurts, and birds eat it, so most locations have banned its use. They throw rose petals, blow bubbles, release butterflies, etc.
