there is a public playground that has become a home for vagrants, homeless and drug-users. as much as i would like to find a safe place for them...a children's playground is not acceptable. they bunk out on the metal decking, under a roofed area. i am thinking some gentle nubs or something...but it can't be a trip hazard to kids, either.

Hose it down at night. Or put in sprinklers that hit it (on a timer) that go off for a few minutes at a time every hour during the evening. It should be dry by the time the kids are there to play.

Ask the police in a note or letter and say that you are concerned regarding your park. Let them know that questionable activity goes on there and you would like them to send extra patrols out there. Send a carbon copy of the letter to the city's parks and recreation department as well as your local public offical like your mayor or alderman. When the police know that public officials are aware of this concern they try and do more.

Legalize drugs so they could be junkies without getting kicked out of the shelter. I would rather house the junkies and provide them clean drugs than have them rob my home to buy drugs and then use them on my child's playground.

get the police involved. have neighbors call every time they are present. after a while they will not come back as they will not want to be busted or disturbed.
its really the only viable solution.. adding things to playgroung could open you up to a lawsuit. places have tried loud classical music.. but then your not very popular with your neighbors.
