Family: already have.
Friends: most of them - all of the close ones.
People at work: not necessarily.
The problem is the way people react. I'm not proud of ever having to hide my beliefs, and I wouldn't lie and say that I _did_ believe... actually outside of Y!A I'm quite non-theistic; I just get on with my life without speaking much about God at all.
Well, you asked for honesty...

what would be the point? For those who do believe in God, it would probably be an insult and for those who don't it would be silly. I am not going to stand in front of people and say, "I like strawberry ice cream!" either. It would actually be creepier that saying "I believe in God" because people expect some Xtians to express that sort of thing.

Well, if I was then yes. However, I don't believe that I am. I'm WAY closer to being an Atheist than being a Christian, but I do believe that something exists, and in a way I think of that something as God.

All my family knows this, and i was raised strict roman catholic, and have a brother who is reminiscent of Ned Flanders, equipped with rod and todd. We hardly speak any longer also. My friends know, but have no issues with those who do believe, and alot of my coworkers know. Its hard to believe in god when you have to work where i do these days. Just turn on your television and you can see where i work everyday. They kill each other in the name of god, so i find it hard to hide my feelings on the subject.

What would be the point? I don't feel the need to press my beliefs on other people unlike most people on this board. If someone were to ask me I would calmly explain my beliefs but as far as gathering everyone together to make that statement no, it would serve no purpose whatsoever.

My parents are the only people I know of that don't know I'm an atheist. And I haven't told them because they are so wrapped up in their religion that it would serve no purpose.
They will never understand atheism, so my proclaiming it to them would do nothing but make them fear for my soul, and feel bad about it. I see no reason to bring them that kind of emotional strain.
But otherwise, yes, I'm extremely vocal about it.

Why do I have to get in front of people and proclaim anything. If they ask me, I will tell them I am an atheist.
Unlike evangelical christians, I don't feel the need to boast and proclaim who or what I am to make myself feel better.

I do it all the time, everyone close to me knows my beliefs and if someone asks I have no qualms about telling them. I even have a Darwin sticker on my car. I am not afraid of anyone's judgment.

I actually question the existence of god. But no, I wouldn't do that. That's a whole can of worms I'm not about to open.

If I didn't believe yes i would because it does not matter what others think. My sister has told everyone even strangers about her nobelief and anyone apposing her she quickly shuts them up.
