All right, I think I'll be the only guy to answer this question, but I do actually have something for you. I've been searching for unique packaging for my DVD slideshow business (www.bigmomentfilms.com) and I have looked at dozens of companies on the web that sell gift boxes and odd packaging supplies. Until that research, I didn't know that you could buy jars, bottles, tins, and genuinely odd boxes and bags... many of which would be perfect to turn an otherwise mundane party favor into something fun.

Check out:

or search Google for "gift boxes" "gift packaging" or some iteration of that.

What you put in it... well, I think the other answers cover those ideas pretty well.

I hope this is helpful... Good luck with the party... take lots of pictures (appoint someone to do that), you'll be glad you did later!

Get a small terra cotta pot, fill with any type of bean (kidney, navy, even coffee). You'll also need some ball point pens, single silk flowers on a stem (gerberas are nice, but something that matches what else you're doing for decor), and floral tape. Tape the flowers to the pens using the floral tape, wrap the tape all the way to the point of the pen (so that it looks like a stem.) They're cheap, and cute, and practical.

For my bridal shower my sister went to a local craft stores and got little wooden heart cut outs, she painted them red (my wedding color) and then took a gold marker and wrote our names and date on them, she put a little peice of magnet on the back and then placed them in a tulle circle with little dinner mints and candies. She tied them off with some sparkly ribbon and they were good to go. The magnets were a huge hit and she didn't spend a fortune!

Good Luck!

We are making cd's with some of our favorite songs that we have picked out for our wedding reception. I bought 100 cd'r from Office Depot and bought cd labels and cases from WalMart, went to the website and down loaded the necessary software to make the labels. I also did a search online for "wedding clipart" and got the cutest Precious Moments pic! I just typed on the label "Thank you for sharing our day." along with our names and the date. Cute, thoughtful, and cheap!

I made favors for my friend - we ordered ribbon with the bride & grooms name & wedding date on it. Then we bought tulle that matched the wedding color and used the ribbon to tie up little Dove Promises chocolates in them. It was cute, the Dove chocolates have cute litte romantic sayings on them. It was very inexpensive.

It would really help if you gave us your budget. How much do you want to spend per person?

For 50 cents a piece I purchased pre-printed, personalized favor/placecard boxes and filled them with dove chocolates. The best part is that they double as place-cards!

We're making CDs as well, and our own personalized labels for mini-candy bars. We're also making Hershey kiss roses (they're quite easy to make; you can find instructions with a simple online search). My sister is making plantable recycled paper seed cards, and we may also have handmade vegetarian soaps (cucumber melon, mmm!).
