I lost 70 pounds in about just over a year to 70 weeks. First month, I lost 2 pounds a week, then about 1.5 pounds and then I it was about a pound a week for the longest time. As I neared my goal, it was 0.5 pounds a week and I really had to work to loose that. But, I've kept it off now for over seven years.

I recommend abount a pound a week for safe and long term weight loss.

The most actual fat you can lose in a week is two pounds. So on a reasonable diet, assuming you don't relapse too much, you can lose it all in 39 weeks. That's a very ideal number though because you may reach plateaus for weeks in which you lose very little, but if you stick to it for 35 weeks you'll have lasting weight loss. It really varies by person, but anywhere from 35 to 70 pounds is a good estimate.

About a year. You don't want to lose it to fast because you will be more likely to put it back on. Counting Calories is a good way to do it. This is great site to help you count calories.
