I'd tell them; 1. You being alive and productive at age 17 is a testament to their good parenting. 2. You should celebrate the 17 years of wisdom and knowledge that you have accrued. 3. No ones promised tomorrow, everyday should be a celebration but especially the day you were born. 4. You've been able to drive for one year and you haven't had any problems. 5. You're getting older and this might be the last birthday you celebrate with your family. After this it's college and partying with friends..they need to cherish the moment. Hope some of these help.

1. You've been alive 17 years
2. It's your birthday....
3. Did they give you a party when you were 7? If so why...did they have to come up with 5 good reasons why?
4. Did I mention it's your birthday....
5. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, they are your parents and every birthday should be a celebration

If that's your only reason, good luck finding four more.
Anyway, even if you can't think of five good reasons, at least your parents should give you a small family party with maybe a couple of your closest friends. A birthday is a big deal, no matter how old you happen to be. Celebrate that you made it through another year! Good luck finding your reasons, and I hope their enough to convince your parents.
Here's one: if you have a job, you don't need your work permit anymore.

Ok here we go....
1. tell them that 17 is an important year because they let you live that long.
2. tell them ( i hope this is the case) that you are keeping your grades up in school.
3. tell them that you will only have one more year to be with your friends from school that you want to invite to the party.( i am asuming that you will graduate at 18 that is..)
4. Tell them that you don't want an expensive party just some friends.
5. tell them that number one answer should cover it all.
I run out of sujestions.. I never thought about having my kids come up with these answers.
your parents aren't weird .. just giving you a bunch of crap the way it sounds.
you should be able to think of a couple more here. hope this helped out a little. everyone needs there birthdays and partys.

It's an important age because:
You didn't die at 16.
You can legally see an R rated movie.
By law you can choose to marry or not marry without permission from parents in some states.
If he studies and put his nose to the grindstone he could graduate at 17.
It's his last party before he is officially an adult.

17 is a huge deal.
First tell them that the day of your birth should be celebrated and thought of a huge deal, because that's the day you came in their lives to love them and to bring them years and years of joys and happiness.
Next tell your mom that her little bundle of joy is growing up that this is the last year that you will officially be a kid and that you will start having to grow up and that you are going to miss being mamma's baby. Tell her that you want to start out the year celebrating all the joy and happiness that she has given you as a child
Then tell her that as you get old birthdays tend to become less important and as her baby you want to feel as important as long as possible.
Tell them that the age 17 is the gap between adult hood and child hood and should be seen as a huge growing experience that should be started off with a huge celebration.
Man I'm all out of ideas, good luck!

Don't know if I can B-S through five reasons, but I'll give it a shot!
1. You have now experienced your first year of driving! You are more responsible and comfortable with the road.
2. Only one more year until you're out of the house! (This one should definitely please the 'rents.) ;-)
3. You've been studying hard looking for the perfect college (wink wink). You deserve to have time off? (Lol, this one's kinda lame.)
Wow, this is hard! At least you have a few more to add to the list, right? Good luck to ya!

The age of 17 is HORRIBLE. You are so close to being an adult but sill a child. Alos next year you will be 18 that means you are an adult and this is your last year to enjoy a childhood party! Plus, after you turn 18 you want to try to move out and make a life of your own and it would be GREAT to have one last worry free party!--My 17 bday party speech! Thank you Thank you

17 is by no means a child, this is the first year of young adulthood and the last to prepare for entering into the world on your own. Some move out, marry, join the military at 17. I was in the military 11 years active duty and ran into many young men and women on their own at 17.
