There are several alternatives:
Most important: you MUST make sure that the puppy has things that it IS allowed to chew on - puppies teethe just like babies!
There are spray repellents that help to deter dogs (and cats) from being near things; however these have limited success and can be expensive.
You can be exceptionally vigilant and punish (through the method of your choice) your pet for chewing on things that it should not.
You can buy an inexpensive muzzle from a pet store designed to deter chewing.
You can tie the dog up outside when you're not around and give it nothing to chew except it's established toys.

Train her on what she can chew and what she can't. Make sure she has an acceptable chew or three. Treat filled Kongs are great. When she picks uo the right thing, praise her...a lot. When she picks up the wrong thing tell her no and make her release it. Then give her the right thing and praise her for taking it. It also helps to keep stuff off the floor. Never hit a dog, Positive training works...without confusing or making the dog afraid.

Lots of toys she can chew got to www.petedge.com for great prices. Try a product called bitter apple on your furniture and things that you don't want teeth on. Also keep her on a leash under your control until she earns more freedom. You wouldn't let a 6 month old baby just wander around. That way if your puppy chews anything, it's your fault.

Spray the things you don't want her to chew with Bitter Apple or Bitter Yuck spray. Give her some toys to chew. Praise her when she chews the right things, tell her no when she chews the wrong things. If possible, don't leave her alone with anything you don't want her chewing.

Crate train your puppy. Keep him contained when you aren't around with some chew toys (all puppies teeth) and have a squirt gun ready for when he is loose and chewing on something he shouldn't. Give him the chew toy immediately after.
