Don't blame things on Jesus. It was others who did the interpreting and put things into his mouth. Considering his close relationship with Peter, who knows what was originally in his mouth.
Actually, same gender sex was part of the ancient middle east long before Christianity. Many kings had male consorts. Read Gilgamesh. Enheduanna, the high priestess of the temple of Nanna, was famous for dressing in men's robes and for wearing a fake beard.
The prohibitions started because of cleanliness issues. The 'insertion' part of it was the main issue. It became against the law for a man to 'enter' a man of an equal or higher station. From there, the law kept getting revised as society changed, until same gender unions were completely illegal mainly because it was a pagan thing. Monotheism tries to reject anything that has a pagan origin or began during pagan times.

Obviously U have never read the Old testament where it clearly states in Leviticus 20:13
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Now In the new testament Jesus died for our sins, so u can be forgivin. But it is surely an abomination. This given by Moses thru God. Moses was annointed. U wanna question God's ways? Go ahead heathen!!

Umm.. apparently you have read the bible?? There are many places where it talks about sexual perversions being against God. You need to do some research before you ask a question like this. He didn't need to mention all the aspects of gay sex, or how it's done. The fact that Sodom and Gamorah were destroyed due to perversions should be enough to bring light on the issue.

I've got a feeling that he would have readily embraced gays- but his wound up rabbit followers wouldn't. They're still in the missionary position. It's an odd thing this up tight attitude most christians have.... some of them are so anal you'd think they'd love it.... don't blame the man himself though..... he is, after all, always depicted in an S&M semi dressed state. To appeal to all, obviously...

No, you're confusing Jesus with his fan club. He was a pretty cool guy, love everyone, take care of the poor, and so on. It's his fan club that has the uptight/bigot/sociopath problems.

The bible is one of the best creative books of art out there. The stories and contents were decided on by a committee of sex less men who were ashamed of their own desires, hundreds if not thousands of years after the facts were long forgotten or altered. It is the ultimate collection of Chinese whispers. Don't take it too personal that Christians are led to believe propaganda about human desire. Some of the most christian people out there are nasty close-minded individuals who can not think for themselves. Ignorance is bliss......

First of all, lumping all Christians into that stereotype is wrong. Second, I can only speak for myself, I have a few friends who practice the lifestyle and I love them no less because of who they are, but just because the lifestyle is accepted by society doesn't make it right. It's still a sin. It's still an abomination in God's eyes.

Yet another person who posts questions without doing any research
The bible clearly speaks AGAINST homosexuality in many places. I'll list one here
1st Corinthians 6 : 9 NIV
Just because you say it is right and hope it is right, it is still wrong.
Read the Bible, I PROMISE it won't hurt you and you be able to post question that don't make you look so bad.
Homework, research..they are good things

Unfortunately many Christians are homophobic, but that is not what we are instructed to be. Love the person...hate the sin. The correct response would be that of any other sin such as murder, adultery, lies, fornication etc...Do not condone the sin, but if we are to be brothers and sisters, fellowship and growing together in Christ...supporting one another...how can we accomplish that if we turn our backs on someone who is gay? Love the person...do not turn your back, but let them know that you don't condone the sin. Just as they maybe don't condone the hate that is shown to them by those who refuse to open their hearts.
Be blessed and try to forgive those that haven't learned to deal with the problem. They are faulted as well.

I, too, am a Christian who is not Homophobic.
But if you are saying homosexuality is not mentioned in the Bible, you are mistaken. There are several references to the fact that it is forbidden. The very word sodomy comes from the name of a city which God destroyed, in part, because of its wholesale practice of homosexuality.
