A belief arrived at without research is called being brainwashed. I pity all the brainwashed peeps of the world.

A belief is something you just KNOW...
Yes you can do research but it is what you know!
I have investigated many religions and their histories there are more than ONE you know?

I think that you should investigate what you think is truth. You should always be able to defend your faith with proof to back it up. Because you might undautably change your mind like I did. I was once a non-denominational christian, But as I did my reserch I came to find out that I was wrong(not to affend anyone who goes to a non-denomonational church of course). I came to the Reform Christian faith and found truth. Always, Always Always investigate what you are getting in to.

Its your choice. You can choose without base or with base. Its your surrounding that makes you who you are and what you believe. Follow your instincs.
