Because that's the proper term for a female dog, and it is the original usage of the word. It goes back to Old English, around the 12th century, and it has no negative meaning when used that way. The current vulgar meaning comes from equating a female person with a female dog, in a demeaning way.

The actual, primary meaning of the word "b****" was a female dog, or more generally a female canine (female wolf, female coyote, and so forth).

The origin of the term is apparently from old Norse, bikkja, or old German bekjon, through Old English, bicce, through Middle English, bicche, to the modern English spelling and pronunciation. In various forms, then, this term for a female dog has been in use for over a thousand years.

It's just a term... it's recent society that made that word into slang and a swear. Same as the name for a male chicken, the 4-lettered name, not rooster. And an a$$ never used to be a slang word for our bum, but the name of an animal that was a cross between a hourse and a donkey. They're nicely called Mules now.

The original use of the word refered to a female canine. A female is a b*tch, a male canine is a dog.

The male dog is called a dog..the female is called a *****, just as as there are other names in all animals to define male from female.
colt=male ....filly=female
Bull=male...cow=female..

I would much rather be called a *****, than a cow or a sow!

an old saying in the dog world is..."Dogs are lovers, and b!tches are b!tches"........This refers to the fact that because of hormone ups n downs, females are more moody. Of course, spaying is the great nutralizer!

it was called that before it became a swear word. It's like "gay" used to mean "happy", but people just change the meaning of words because they are immature freaks.
