protestants and catholics do not believe that the opposite would go to hell if they actually study the proper teachings.
the great schism is actually the seperation between the catholic church(rome) and the eastern orthodox church(constantinople). they divided because of competition for the papal authority bewteen the pope(rome) and the patriarch(constantinople).
the seperation between protestants and catholics is called the protestant reformation. the main reason for the seperation was becuase of the use of indulgences. priests would tell parishoners that if they paid in advance their sins would also be forgiven in advance(which is a lie because forgiveness of sins don't really work like that :) ). Martin Luther, the priest who led the movement never really wanted to make a whole new sect, but it gained such a following, as seen in how many protestants there are today.

I would wager that the number or Catholics and the number of Protestants who feel this way is small. But what do I know I am a Catholic born and raised Baptist.I would not be as bold as to make such assumptions regarding anothers salvation.

I don't believe your statement is accurate. Protestants don't claim that Catholics are going to hell. Christians witness and share the Word of God. ANYONE who is not sealed by the Blood of Jesus Christ, who is not one who has been saved, confessed Jesus Christ as their Savior, and who is not "sealed" with the Mark of God will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
"And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
"Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads" (Revelation 7:2,3).
Protestants didn't make the rules. God did. He layed everything out---the requirements, the blessings, the promises, and the prophecies that are not being fulfilled. Catholics, Jews, Muslims, anyone who will turn away from sin, claim the promises of the Word of God, confess that Jesus is the Son of God that gave us the gift of salvation is saved. Period.
Those who are not saved and who do not carry the mark of God, will be cast into the Lake of Fire. We didn't make the rules. We didn't write the script. We didn't write the book. GOD DID. I hope that you will go to Him in prayer and discuss this with him. I pray that you will ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit to shed light on your darkness; I pray that you will be with all of those who will meet Jesus in the air to help build the New Jeruselem.

None of them. No one have the right to judge anyone. Only God knows what is in everyone heart and only God knows the true. The only thing we have to do is Love God over everything and love the other people in the world. Help everyone in the way we can. I believe God only wants everyone loves each other, doesn't matter what religion you're, doesn't matter the color of skin or looks.
If we follow Jesus lessons, he never discriminate anyone and love everyone the same. I think we should learn to love to everyone.
My conclusion: I think Catholics have beautiful expectations same as the protestants... they believe in something, and they can't and don't have any power to judge anyone.

Not all Protestants or all Catholics are going to heaven. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior you will "go to heaven". It is not how you worship that is important but that you accept God and the gift of His Son. A lot of the differences are caused by man wanting power and not truely wanting to serve God. Satan is the great deceiver and many things man has done in the name of God was His will.

Catholics do not claim Protestants are going to hell.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth" are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements."
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him."
With love in Christ.

Religion is a big business, if you are observant in your surrounding you will notice some protestant are preaching the thing that the Catholic is teaching. They preach what they do not know. I am not judging these people, because I myself will be judge in the coming judgment day.
Let us read the scripture religiously to see for ouselves, what are things that God hates and the things that God has told us to do. It is only then that we can see who is going to hell and who is not. It is not what you do that counts, it is what's in your heart that counts more, because out of the abundance of our heart the mouth speaketh, this is according to the scripture not mine.
You cannot lived by faith alone, neither by works alone, this two faith and works must go together hand in hand. Here some exert from the writings of W.E. BERKLEY for you to admonish.
Authority In Religion
Three Simple Questions, With Clear Bible Answers
1. WHAT IS AUTHORITY?
Authority can be defined as the right to make laws, and demand obedience thereto. So one who has authority has this right; this right to make laws and demand that the laws be obeyed. In modern life, there are many examples of what's involved in authority: Congress has authority to make laws and demand obedience to them. A School Board has authority to make rules, to formulate policy and prescribe how funds will be spent.
Throughout various segments of modern society, there are various persons and governing bodies with authority. Authority involves the right to make laws, and demand that they be obeyed. You will observe this use of the word, in Matthew 8:9, where a centurion said to Jesus: "For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come, and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." We can operate on the basis of this definition: Authority is the right to make laws, and demand that they be obeyed.
2. WHY IS AUTHORITY NEEDED IN RELIGION?
Just look at the condition of modern religion; just look at what is called "Christianity," and what do you see?
a) In religion today there is division.
There are hundreds of denominational churches; there are cults and religious organizations and "ministries" of many kinds. There are different doctrines and different practices, yet the common claim that Christ is being served.
b) In religion today there is confusion.
The division we've just mentioned; the controversy and diversity causes many people to be very confused. People who are searching and seeking may find it all very confusing. Sometimes - people who are searching for what's right, become so confused -- they just give up. This is sad, but real. Further, in religion today ...
c) There is loyalty to men rather than loyalty to God.
IN THE WORD OF GOD ...
The apostle Peter said, in Acts 5:29, "we must obey God rather than men." Many people today, in their practice of religion, are obeying men rather than God; they are bowing down before the creeds and traditions of men.
Do you realize - many of our religious friends and neighbors belong to churches, where the Bible isn't really the guide. They have creeds written by men; the Bible may be quoted, but in reality - - they have THE BAPTIST MANUAL OF FAITH, or THE PRESBYTERIAN CONFESSION OF FAITH, or some other written creed. In some cases - there are UNWRITTEN CREEDS ... I mean - standards, rules and ordinances which come from men, not God; and are enforced or bound upon people. These rules of manmade origin are completely out of place and an affront to the Lord's authority, no matter where you find them, including in Churches of Christ! So - in the religious world, and among men -- there is often LOYALTY TO MEN RATHER THAN LOYALTY TO GOD.
These are the sad conditions we see. There is division, confusion and loyalty to men. This is why there is the pressing need to address the subject of authority.
3. WHO HAS AUTHORITY IN RELIGION?
Remember, authority is the right to make laws and demand obedience; the religious world today is divided; there is confusion, controversy and loyalty toward men. So, we need to be urgent in asking this question: WHO HAS AUTHORITY IN RELIGION?
If the Pope has all authority, and someone can prove that's the will of God, then we need to do whatever he says. If there is some governing board of denominational officials that has all authority, let someone prove that's the way it is. Then, let's place ourselves in due submission to them.
You see we need to find out, for sure, who has authority in religion then submit to that authority. But, before we submit; before we give heed and obey, let's be sure we are submitting to the authority designated by Almighty God!
This is a serious matter, this question of who has authority in religion? We're talking about worshipping and serving God! We're talking about knowing for sure what's right and wrong! We're talking about knowing we have forgiveness, and knowing where we will spend eternity!
Before we submit; before we give heed and obey, let's be sure we are submitting to the authority designated by God. Our question is, WHO HAS AUTHORITY in religion ?
God answers, in Matthew 17:5, "THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED, HEAR YE HIM!" Doesn't this settle the matter? Our question is simple: WHO HAS AUTHORITY in religion? Who do we turn to, for the right answers; the correct doctrines; the scriptural practices; the approved way of doing things?
WHO HAS AUTHORITY in religion? It's a simple question. And, the answer is just as simple; God says to us, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye Him!" (Matt. 17:5). If you believe the Bible, and respect the Word of God, you will accept this answer.
But, there's more. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus said: "All authority hath been given to Me, in heaven and on earth." What problem is there, in seeing this truth? The question is: WHO HAS AUTHORITY IN RELIGION? God says, "Jesus Christ .... this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear He Him!" Jesus says, "ALL AUTHORITY HATH BEEN GIVEN TO ME, IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH."
Thus, in determining what's right and wrong morally; and, in deciding what to believe and do in your relationship before God, what book must you consult? Do you have a New Testament?
