Wouldn't know. Personally, I'm a utilitarianist. And no, I don't want to eat the babies: that's just stupid. Why? Because it's ineffecient: if you're going to do a satire, do it right.
I do, however, believe that an increase in population isn't necessarily a good thing. I also believe that the biggest reason to prevent murder, other than that a dead person can't contribute to society, is that people have something called fear. If a person has a fear of being killed, they'll generally be less productive. An entity without the conscious thought processes necessary to fear death doesn't have this problem, and even if it did, there's no way for humanity to communicate "Hey fetus, abortion is illegal, so you don't have to worry." So, by my moral system, there's no problem with abortion. Others say that this is an inhumane system of thought... and maybe it is. But oh well! Wait, what was the question again?

Having sex out of marriage, and not being smart or bold enough to use birth control are 2 issues.
Also, guys are not men anymore and they can not be relied on. I think the guy should be fully liable for the support of the baby, and if he is living at home, his parents ought to be responsible for the support of the child.
The whole issue is a mess since society is slowly breaking down and anything goes. Moral standards are pretty meaningless. Until society becomes responsible again, and regains some moral backbone, abortion is a matter of survival for the woman in many cases.
I guess I still do not get why birth control is not being used? I think moms and dads ought to be teaching their kids this in today's times.
Not a great answer, since the times are screwed up.

All of the 'shame' should induce the woman to NOT have sex outside of wedlock. After all it worked for a very long time, before our society decided to take God out of everything. Not saying that there were not a few women that some men could entice to have sex with them. But as the norm, Women kept their legs closed! and if a woman got an abortion, she either did it her self (resulting in death or the inability to have more children, usually), or she went to a Dr. that did it in some filthy back room somewhere, where she could get an infection and maybe die or not be able to have any more children. In any case, if women would return to being the moral gate keepers that they once were then there would be a lot fewer unwanted pregnancies then there are now. I am not trying to sound chauvinist, it is just the way it was before 'women's lib' which in my opinion was nothing less then the attempt to destroy our country.

I have not herd someone say the term "bastard child" In a very long time. Truth be known People push more for adoption than anything. And nowadays Conservatives are pushing to just stop people from being too promiscuous so that they don't get and or spread STD's.
And even if the Christians and Conservatives are really pushy it is still the choice of the woman to get the abortion. It's not the fault of any one else.
I do believe that is what PRO-CHOICE means is it not????
(look I am ok with abortion) What I am not OK with is whiny babies blaming their decisions on other people.

I see what you mean, if the religious society didnt frown upon the young women for getting pregnant would that have prevented abortion? I can't say that I know the answer but I do know this is that I had a friend that was promiscuous I mean hardcore and she had an abortion. That I don't agree with but I think that the women back then and even now fear for their life on how their parents, friends, family and even the church, might view them. Its sad but true for most cases.

I would rather a woman bring shame to my family, community, church then to have an abortion. There is so much help out there to keep kids from having unwanted babies. A mother can always give the baby up for adoption if the baby is not wanted. I could never have kids of my own and would love to raise someone elses kid.

It is true we must consider the feelings of the woman who is pregnant and does not wish to be. It is a sad situation which does not require judgmental attitudes. We must strive to show support for and compassion with the woman in this situation encouraging her that God will provide for her and her child. The conception out of wedlock should be addressed at a different time when the more important issue of saving the life of the unborn child is no-longer an issue.

Don't engage in sex outside of marriage, problem solved. The only time an abortion may be "necessary" is if the mother's life is in jeopardy, which is rare. All sin has consequences, some small, some life altering. A mature person accepts the responsibility for their actions and lives with the consequences. You don't kill a baby to hide your sin, you seek forgiveness, repent, go on with your life and raise that child the best you can.

"Harping" on the wrongness of sin is intended to be preventative in the sense that people don't want to do what's wrong. It's also good to mention the sins after they've been committed so they can be responded to appropriately. However, for those who've screwed up, chosen to get pregnant out of wedlock, and realize the enormity of their sin, then you're correct, we need to be more compassionate. There are plenty of Christian organizations that exist to help unwed pregnant women. Don't overlook those in your further consideration of the factors relating to your question.

well..........Everyone knows what causes pregnancy, everyone also knows there are options to prevent pregnancy. I guess if a woman chooses to abort becuase she worries about what her family, church, and community think of her for having a child out of wedlock..then she needs to grow up and relize that it does NOT matter what other people think of you. It only matters what you think of yourself. If she has no problem with causal sex that causes pregnancy, then she really doesn't think too much of her self anyway.
