I don't curl my hair often, so when I do, I end up sucking at it. The curls either don't curl, or go limp after 5 mins. I want nice loose spirals all over, and when I do get a curl, it's atigh ringlet. Is there a happy medium? I work with a 1 1/2 inch curling iron. Anything will help guys!

TRY USING A HOLDING SPRAY BEFORE U CURL. AND BUMP UP THE SIZE OF YOUR CURLING IRON TO LIKE A 2 INCH. USE A FINISHING SPRAY AFTER YOU ACHIEVE THE DESIRED RESULTS

If you use a 1 1/2" iron, you shouldn't be getting ringlets!!! You might not be 'wrapping' the hair along the shaft of the iron by that I mean you might just be wrapping the hair like you normally do but hold the curling iron downward vertically.

Just try twisting it up the barrel of the iron with no hair overlapping the previous wrap.

A lot of gals have trouble with using the iron but reading the following might help them improve their technique:

Start with clean hair, and don't use too large of a section. Roll to where you want the curl/wave to begin (in this case roll to the head).

Dependent on the curl wanted, your hair type (thick takes longer than thin) comes into play but experiment. If you hold the curl in the iron for 8 seconds and same problem trying increasing time for each to 10 seconds each section. Just be careful you don't stay too long to cause burning.

Flick the spring-loaded section slightly to help loosen the heated hair from the iron's barrel. Now, carefully try to remove the curling iron from the curl without breaking the the curl!! Very important as this allows the curl to set while the hair cools.

Repeat for each section again not to large so the iron will have a chance to do what it is intended to do. The whole process won't take you much longer to do.

If you find the curls too tight, start combing/brushing/finger-loosen the before it has a chance to fully set.

Remember try not to 'break' the curl when removing the iron!!

Hope this helps!!

Use a styling mousse or gel on wet hair then use the bigger curling iron when your hair is dry

not with hair, I dont think that there is a happy medium, but when you take out the curling iron from your hair, immediately spray it with your hair spray.
