Kabbalah has been around for hundreds of years, long before Madonna and the other celebs were born.

It is derived from Judaism and is a mix of religion and science.

For example, Kabbalists believe in the Big Bang theory and evolution and Darwinism. They also believe that God started the whole chain of events.

They believe in yin/yang and cause & effect. We are all one big organism in the universe, with each person/animal/ocean/plant/etc affecting everyone and everything else. They believe that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Because of it's origins in Judaism, there are some Jewish rituals and dogma (such as Friday Shabbat) that are followed.

Kaballah is a form of Jewish Mysticism. It's been around for a couple thousand years, it's just recently that celebrities have discovered it, like Madonna.
