well cars actualy only run on the fumes that the liquid gasoline produces while sitting in your tank. So once your car is on empty you have until the remaining fumes get used up. You might get a mile or two.

First and foremost...if the fuel pump is in the tank, that's bad for the pump. The fuel keeps the pump cool. When you run that low, the pump runs hot and shortens its live considerably. Never run below 1/8 tank if you can help it.
As far as far you can drive on E...most vehicles have a reserve designed into the calibration of the sender. Usually 2-3 gallons max

Until you run out of gas!! j/k There's usually a gallon or two of reserve to get you by, but it's not very good for cars to completely run out of gas, plus it's a pain!! In some of the newer cars I've heard that it can really ruin things. I've found that my gas miliage is better when I keep it above half a tank. Also, when only filling it up halfway each time, the total expense isn't as much. I know it works out in the end, but it seems easier than filling up all at once...$$ouch!! ;) Good Luck!

Bad plan. When you get to the bottum of the tank you risk the chance of sucking dirt, moisture and other crude into the fuel pump then into the injecters and engine. COSTLY repairs can then be the result.

Depends on the accuracy of your fuel gauge.
If it's truly on Empty, I would expect no where because you don't have any gas.

NOT TOO FAR I THINK
THE 'E' IS THERE FOR A REASON
