Its either you havent installed the cd rom itself or you forgot to install its software.

Try putting a disk into the Disk Drive, wait about 1 minute, usually an option list comes up with a list of available options (Windows Media Player, Music Player, Burn, Rip, Play a DVD ect)

If the above does not work, once the CD is in go back to my computer and double click the disk icon.

It sounds as though you are getting no power to your CD-ROM drive. Open the case and make sure both cables going into your CD-ROM drive are tight. (there will be a small third one towards the back which is just what gives sound from the CD-ROM to your sound card).

Also make sure that the other end of the IDE cable going into the CD-ROM drive is tight into the motherboard.
