Your husband sounds like a jerk, my husband did not want pets at first and six years later we have 3 rabbits, 4 cats, 3 rats, and an iguana. If he really loves you he will do anything to make you happy. I would get a kitten anyways and he will learn to like it. My husband did say no dogs, but I don't want a dog anyways.

For the sake of the kitten, do not bring one into the house unless all persons in the household approve. Often the one who doesn't want the pet can get abusive. So if you're serious, discuss it carefully and if he's willing to compromise, then get a cat.

Make a list of pros and cons about getting a kitten. If he has allergies or something then it's not a good idea to get one for any reason.
If he absolutely still doesn't want to get one, maybe think about another pet like a puppy or something similar.
Make sure you let him know how important it is to you.

sit down and have a serious talk. before, do some research on how to care for kittens (they have a TONNNN of energy and will want to chew and claw everything, will you have time to care for them?) considering adopting one, and i suggest that if your husband is hesitant adopt a older cat (not quite as cute but still very cute and easier for a first-time cat owner or if you haven't had one for a long time) remember that kittens take a lot of time, and cats need time and care from you too. good luck!

Well, in a marriage, you have to learn to give and take, and make compromises. If you husband has a legitimate concern with having a cat, then you need to respect that. If he's just being childish and selfish, then you ought to discuss it with him and come up with a reasonable compromise. BTW, why in hell would you want a cat?? They're mean, and they scratch and you can't cuddle with them. Get a dog instead. They're more loveable.

Tell him you really want a kitten and you want to know why he doesn't want you to have one.Listen to his answer and try to resolve his problem with having a kitten.Your relationship should be able to work this out.
If all else fails tell him he can't play with your kitty until you have a kitty to play with. That should get you one but its not a really good way to do it.

Bigger question: Is your marriage on good terms, and is this a common problem? A marriage is a give or take thing, and that needs to be the case for both him and yourself. Really can't offer a valid opinion without knowing the big picture.

Go get one from an animal shelter and then I would just tell him that you found it outside of work and he followed you to the car and you couldn't just leave him because he could get run over by a car. If he's a kind person he will understand, if not he's a bastard.

sit down with him and have a long discussion ask him why he doesn't want one and why you want one weigh both of your pros and cons and figure out what is the best for the both of you. could be he just had a bad experience with a cat sometime in his life and he is scared of them or he's allergic to them, both of those you can work around quite easily.
make sure you have the time, space and money to properly care for this cat before you get one.
