Here it is- it has worked for my 2 kids, and others after I tell them........
1. get m and m's handy
2. get a small potty chair
3. get a couple books about potty
4. you need to be home for about 4-5 days straight
5. now you can start. let them run around bare-but
6. Set the timer for 1/2 hour. Tell him/her to sit on the potty for 5 min. (read them a book in the mean time if it's to long for them.) If they go, give lots and lots of praise!!! I mean go crazy!! Give them about 3 m and m's.
7. Set the timer for 1/2 hour
8. Avoid asking the question "you got to go potty?'
9. Timer goes off- ok! What does that mean junior? Time to go potty again he or she would say, or you say it if they don't
10. repeat process all day long. If they go # 2 in the potty, reward with a handful of m and m's. They are very colorful and kids love them!!
11. Praise praise praise. I do spank my kids for behavior problems such as lying, disobedience, and bad attitudes, but never for having an accident. If there is an accident, clean it up queitly, and don't say much at all. Remind them it's ok, but try to make it in the potty next time, or in your own words.
Good luck!!! Hope this helps you. My 2 year old girl was potty-trained in one day with the method. Took my 2 1/2 year old son a week. Leave pull-ups on them at night just in case.
p.s. if this doen't work at all, try again in a few months.

Be patient!!! And don't be surprised if he's not fully trained until 36-48 mos. That's right, he might be between the ages of 3-4 before he accomplishes that feat. Both of my boys were potty trained at about age 3 (give or take a couple months). I used a sticker chart and it worked very well. But both of my kids loved stickers then. Let him help you make a chart with crayons/markers whatever. Then take him shopping and let him pick out his own stickers. Everytime he uses the potty or "tries", he can pick out a sticker and put it on his chart. Over time, he will see his chart fill up with all the neat stickers he picked out.

My pediatrician said that two and a half or three is when you should potty train, before then the childs body is not capable of holding it in when they have the urge to go.
When I did start to potty train him I would put a couple of cheerios in the toilet and tell him to sink the cheerios!
Mostly it takes lots of patience and sitting there with your child and asking all the time if they have to go. Lots of praise and maybe treats when they are successful. Also at my house when a child went potty we did the potty song and dance, be silly your kid will love it!

19 months? Are you serious? Most kids arent ready to be potty trained till they are around 3 years old! Grow a brain, honey, and keep buyin those diapers.

my 1st boy decided when he was 17 mnths old that he would start using the potty. i think it has nothing to do with age. it's all up to the child. now we live in the country way in the country so when we potty trained our 2 boys we took them outside to t-t on the bug or water mommas tree. be careful with that though i can promise it will embarrass you one day but it does work

I potty trained my twins at 18 mo. so it is possible but they were "ready" my son I tried at 18 mo. but he had no interest so I waited until 24 mo. which worked for me.
The best thing to do is be consistant. try putting him on the potty after he wakes up especially and regularly through out the day. reward with lots of love and hugs.
Good luck

My son is 20 months and seems interested in learning also, But I don't think he has the muscle control to actually be trained. He sits on the potty 2x a day, sometimes he goes, sometimes he doesn't. It is a good idea just to let him get used it. I guess we just need to be patient and they will learn. Good luck.

Some children aren't ready yet. Don't force them. Some toddlers do get potty train early but most of them do after they turn 2.

First, be sure that it is the right time to take this step. Try the first link below for some hints and steps for making that decision. Remember, there is no specific time when it is right -- each child must approach this at his/her own pace.
