I am a mother of 3 and one on the way. Was on birth control every time. Different kind every time. Had an ovary and tube removed, and had cysts burnt off of the existing ovary. And two kids later. I say pure luck or I am a freak of nature. My OBGYN is shocked. If your having problems I am willing to donate my last working trooper. I have had enough of it. Guaranteed baby maker! Sorry no-refunds.

I'd say it is luck- or unlucky, whichever way you look at it. It is actually hard to get pregnant. Not only do you have to ovulate, but you also have to know WHEN you ovulate, and have sex on the few days before or on ovulation. Your cervix has to be open and low. You have to have the right type of discharge (Egg White Cervical Mucous).
Basically if you have all those things and strng swimmers, you can get pregnant easily... but it's kinda like all the stars aligning the right way. Some people just luck out, others try really hard and chart their temperatures, check mucous, etc. and still have a hard time figuring out when they ovulate, etc.

the difference in being fertile. After you have a baby people are usually much more fertile but sometimes it takes a while with your first. Some women are just very fertile and it's genetic.

It only takes one sperm to fertilze an egg, but in most cases only a few sperm survive the trip to the egg, some women are more fertile than others and it doesn't take much to get them pregnant.
**I got pregnant with my first child from the pre-cm**

Just one little guy has to find the egg - it's not the quantity but more luck of the draw.

It only takes one sperm! That's why there is something called Birth Control (and not the withdrawl method)
