I don't think the word church would go over very well. But I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of organization that would allow atheists to gather and make themselves more politically viable, and also allow them to perform charity work, have social events, teach classes, etc.
Basically, allow them to do all the things that churches do outside of brainwashing people.

Would people with brown eyes join a community group like Brown Eyed People's Community Church? Of course not.

Tough question.
On the one hand, atheists don't actually have a religion (usually), and it's kinda hard to get people together so that they can talk about how they don't believe in something.
On the other hand, Christian churches give them a big, undeserved advantage in politics. They run out and vote for whatever candidate their preachers tell them to vote for, and that gets nutjobs into office. Politicians then pander to that to get votes, which is part of why we have to endure so much digusting talk about religion and "family values" ever election cycle.
The problem with atheists organizing is that we're about thinking for yourself, not swallowing dogma. It'd be nice to have a political machine like the Christians have, but it would also be a bad thing.

I, as an Atheist, would not. Reasons being. 1. I don't like "groups"
2. I don't care what others think.
3. I don't need support from others.
4. I don't need any validation for my ideals or beliefs.

I don't think so since atheism is not a religion. Atheists can talk to each other without the need for a special place of worship.

That's an interesting question...
Given that (real) Atheists don't need to follow any religious nor spiritual belief, they don't need to gather into a community.
How wonderful they are...
They don't need any "church" in order to believe in Life.

Because A-theism means "no-Godism" ; ergo, "no-church-ism"?
But, then, I've always wondered whyI hear self-declared "Atheists" go "Oh My God, really?" when someone tells them something shocking; or "Oh My God!" when the fall ... while the self declared religious ones go "No s hit?" and "Oh, s hit!" when they are in a similar situation!?
Aint't it funny?
